I have several budget priced Bushnell Trophies, which are a great hunting piece. Quick to get on target, clear glass, tough. And I have Nikon Prostaff, the best glass, not quite as easy to locate quickly, very nice scopes. And I have a simple Simmons Pro-Hunter that's not as clear as either of the others. What it has is a diamond reticle that somehow makes it easier for me to stay on target, an intangible that I can't really explain. It has somehow become my favorite scope. It doesn't figure. I think if the Nikon had the same reticle it comes away the easy favorite. They are all 3x9x40. If I spend any real money on a new scope, it's gonna have to have a diamond reticle. I can just plain hold it better.

Yes! you can't shoot any better than you can see. Put a $1,000 scope on a $150.00 rifle not a $150.00 scope on a $1,000 rifle.
