Oh know I hope I'm not stuck with a lemon.Burris Black Diamond 8x32 its blurry the reticle is fuzzy. I've heard from several sources that their service department sucks. What can I do? Who besides Burris will work on their scopes? I paid $650 bucks for a lemon. On Benchrest .com I posted a complaint about Burris and the next day their were 15 other post saying how bad they are,I'm pissed!!!!

Not trying to be a smart-aleck, but you have focused the reticle and adjusted the AO for the proper range, right?

I have a question for you: In another thread, you say you "just sent it in" to Burris. But you already posted a "complaint about Burris" on benchrest.com

You have mentioned nothing of correspondence with Burris. So you are not even going to give Burris a chance to fix the problem (if there even is one) based on nothing more than heresy???

And how can you call the scope a lemon if it hasn't even been in for repair yet?

Seems like you are being a little quick to jump the gun here...

Your questions are valid! I did talk with the service department, and e-mailed them also they promptly replied.Years ago I bought a Burris signeture 4x16 and put in on a deer rifle. It was good enough for deer rifle(Didn't use it much) Then I mounted that scope on a varmint rifle and shot on Bench rest targets for load development.I noticed how blurry that one was. So I sent that one in and they sent it back saying it was in spec's.(Last November)Its still blurry.Well this was a 3 year old scope I should of thought things thru a little better cause I really liked the look and price of the Black Diamond,I called the Optic Zone they said they were great scopes( even launched a poll on Long Range Hunting,BD won over Leupold) better than the signature model. So I bought the Black Diamond.Guess what? The reticle is blurry I adjusted and fooled with it a bunch all to no avail. So I posted my post on Bench Rest 24 hours later a whole bunch of other shooters posted their similar complaints. So with that in mind I concluded I must have a lemon.Called various scope repair shops all said they wouldn't touch it and had same complaints. So that's why I have an attitude now. The scope is being shipped,I will praise them if they fix it. If they say its ok.Let the entire world beware of faulty Burris products submite post any wear I can and write letter's to who ever cares. I'm a working man I can't spend $650.00 bucks like I'm drinking water.Should've bought a Leuapold but I wanted the 32 power,it was a great price compared to Night Force. Thank you for your question.

Had the exact same problem with a Black Diamond that I bought a couple of weeks ago. The side focus knob felt as if it wasn't turning anything, could not focus the recticle no matter how hard I tried, could see all the parts on the inside of the scope, especially at 24x(6x24), and it felt like I needed a pipe wrench to adjust the magnification. Returned it for a Zeiss Conquest($100.00 more) and the difference is like night and day. For $630.00 I expected more.

I wouldn't start ripping them untill they give you a reason to. I've returned a scope that fogged and they sent me a new one. No complaints. I too had heard the bad reports and I'm sure some are true, but my experience was fine.

I don't know or care what the status of my former Black Diamond scope is because Bear basin has let me exchange it for a Leupold 8.5x25x50MM. I should'ev bought a Leupold in the first place. Oh well live and learn.

You're just going to learn you paid way too much for the leupold.

I sent a 15 yr. old Burris Signature into Burris last month because the upper left quadrant looked full of debris! I got the scope back in about (10) days in "as new" condition! I have no complaints with Burris Customer Service. To answer IronWorkers question on which scope do you prefer; I'd have to say Zeiss for my old eyes!

Today:

Burris Company,
I got another battery and now it works.
The CR2025 battery specified by Burris is 3Volts, and 1.8 Volts turned out to be not enough.
Good thing I didn't ship it to you, as I hate standing in lines.

Agreed, Guy I know sent in a 8-32 Sig. with a tracking problem last year and had it back in about 10 days, good as new.

I actually talked to Larry Walsh myself about it and he was anything but rude. Excellent CS. J

Several years ago I sent them an email because I liked the taper post and crosshair reticle in the Signature Safari but noted that the low light performance was poor. They said yes they knew that but the new version was much brighter. I tried the new scope and they were right. It is much brighter.
For years Burris made the Pentax top line scopes but were prohibited from using the technology on their own scopes. That agreement expired several years ago and the Burris scopes improved.
I see lots of people going to side focus but it is really inferior to the rear focus arrangement.

My experience has been much the same. I initially bought Burris because they make a decent product at a decent price. Customer service is what kept me with them, ALL my rifles have Burris scopes.

This is an amusing thread. leup(old) lovers found a way to bash Burris' customer service AND convince no one that leup(old) makes a value scope. I love it!

I have returned a couple of scopes to Burris over the years and have always been happy with their customer service. In fact I sent a new scope back once and they fixed it, I wasn't happy with the fact that they fixed it instead of sending me a new scope. I called them and told them so, with no hassle at all they exchanged the repaired one for a new one.

Hey Small Fish I was never a fan of Leupold because of the price. I felt I was having problems with my Black Diamond. So I posted my complaint on Bench rest.com. $6 other shooters posted similar complaints except 3. I called around at scope repair out fits they had similar gripes about Burris.Perhaps I was to hastey in throwing in the towel on Burris and buying a Leupold.( Got my big Fat Vacation check in the mail) So I bought a Leupold 8.5x25x50MM with Varmint reticle. Its a clear and Bright I'm a happy camper. Bear basin Outfitters is a good company to buy scopes from.So life goes on.

Larry, You can't count the same 4 guys/posters 11 times. My count was 4 bad, 3 good. Not counting 1 good for me. Read the thread and take note of the same 4 guys replying. Sorry to get picky. Jay

Jay its water under the bridge.I wanted a 32 power scope. It wasn't very clear(Talking about the image) my other Burris Signature scope is also bright and not super clear image i sent that one back and they said it was in specs. So if they were going to send the Black Diamond back saying the same thing. I said I know what I see,I'm not satisfied.Ok so I didn't focus the reticle the way I was supose to(They didn't include directions, just a little book IDing all the parts in all their scopes) But the image wasn't clear, but it was in other scopes I own.I droped a rifle(The sling came un latched) wearing the signature. It knocked the scope off target. One time hunting Bear with big game rifle I droped it lightly climbing over blulders. That rifle was wearing a Leupold VX111. Later that day I was packing my bear out.Now I had that Black Diamond for 6 months the image was fuzzy the whole time so.Last time up at range with other rifles. I decided send it back. I recieved my vacation check, bills were paid I said screw it I'm exchanging it for a Leupold. Ya I spent a bunch of bucks for it,but I like it, and works is good. If Burris wants to clear it with Bear Basin Outfitters and send me back the Black Diamond fixed. I'll gladly reverse my gripes into praise's.But that's not going to happen( Reality check) the exchange has been made life goes on. I think the next scope I'll buy is a Night Force or Ziess.Work my way up ths ladder

Hey Jay read the post by a shooter with the handle "Neverflinch" on this thread. Where do you live Jay? Do you hunt varmints? Shot a Jack yesterday with 223 it blew his heart out of its body and it was still pumping isn't that strange?

I had a similar problem with the older Leupold LPS 4.5X14 with AO. I wear glasses for normal daily use but shoot without them. I found I could not get enough adjustment without my glasses. I had a similar problem with a Leica scope as well. It is my understanding some of the higher magnification scopes may not have enough adjustment to accommodate some needed eye correction. I don't know if this might be part of your problem.
Both Leupold and Leica acknowledged a problem adjusting for some people requiring glasses It may be the same for Burris. Why don't you have another person try your scope to see if they have the same opinion. I was convinced my scope was out of wack till I realized I was the culprit. This may not apply to you but thought my experience might help. LOL! cheers
