I have always liked Steiner binoculars. I saw a Steiner rifle scope for sale in the classifieds. I contacted Steiner USA and they said they have no plans to market a scope in the US. Anybody care to comment? Andy B We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club

I had a great friend (now deceased due to a rare type of cancer) that was a Steiner rep. He sold Steiner riflescopes until they discontinued them (at least for the US market.) They are great. Wish I had had the money for one while he had them. I did sell some binos and my friend got me a nice Steiner jacket.

Steve, Are you saying they might still be made overseas? I have relatives in Europe, Switzerland specifically. I guess I need to contact her and inquire of the Steiner scopes. We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club

That's what I don't know, I've been wondering myself. The SHOT show is going on right now and I'm sure Steiner is there. I was supposed to go but couldn't make it at the last minute; was going to find out. The U.S. operation is called Pioneer Research, shouldn't be hard to find out.

I may be wrong, but I saw a Docter riflescope that appeared to be an indentical twin to the Steiner. It was a 3-12x56 I believe. Docter scopes may be great, I only have experience with one. A friend bought one and it turned out to be a dud, right out of the box it didn't have enough adjustment to zero his rifle. Installed an different scope and everything was fine. That being the only Docter optic I've dealt with sort of left a sour taste... Good Luck Reloader

Steiner made rifle scopes back in the 70's and early 80's called the Penetrator series in something like 2-8, 3-12 and I had a 1.5-6x42. I believe they even had a 6x42 in that series as well. In the late 80's they contracted with Leupold to make a HuntingZ series that featured Steiner glass and the rest was Leupold components. The HuntingZ series had a 1.5-5, 2.5-8 and a 3.5-10, all 30mm tubes. To my knowledge Steiner has no plans of producing rifles here or anywhere else.
