I have an old .458 WM M70 with a G&H detachable side-mount system on it. I recently took it Buffalo hunting with no problems. But...when I was checking zero and practicing right before I left...it got loose from the receiver. That bothered me. I put it back together with Red Locktite and it was fine for the hunt. Now I am considering changing it. Anyone got any opinions??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J. My opinion is worth what you paid for it. My opinion is you probably fixed it and keep it the way it is. It is probably fine and I know it would be fine as long as the threads and metal parts were thoroughly degreased before reassembling with the Red Loctite. If they weren't and it loosens up down the road, make sure to degrease it thoroughly and don't skimp on the Red Loctite. 458 WM are vicious to scope mounting systems! That G&H will look a heck of a lot better than the bare receiver with those holes. I think you have a great setup. I hope the scope choice is a quality made, smaller sized scope. You should post some pics of that beauty! It sounds like a dandy! PA Bear Hunter, NRA Benefactor

If you are worried about it a competent gunsmith might be able to do something. Maybe re-drill and tap receiver holes for a size larger screws. A 458 can sure loose up scope mmounts.
