Looking at buying a rangefinder can't stretch to a leica or a swaro, but have read that the nikon units are Ok. I also heard that the bushnell yardagepro 800 compact is the same as the nikon 800. How does this rangefinder rate?

Also, is there any difference between the nikon 800 and teh nikon monarch 800 (they seem to have similar features?)

Cheers

John

John,
The Nikons are OK, however, I have a few new Leica LRF 800's @ $339.99 and Certified Pre-Owned LRF 900 Scans @ $339.99 too.
Please feel free to give me a call to discuss this.

Have a great day,
Doug

That's quite bogus IMO, The Nikon RFers have much better glass even the prostaff is head and shoulders above the Bushnell units IMO. If you take them outside and use them on some small objects in a field or similar you'll see what I mean.

The Monarch line is far better than anything Bushnell offers from my experience. I've used two of the Bushnell units a 800 and a 400 and both were crap except for close range bow hunting in which they work well.

The Monarch 800 is a fine unit for the price and can be had for less than 300 if you shop around on the net.

Good Luck

I had a Monarch 800 for an anyelope hunt last year. They are much better than anything Bushnell makes. The glass is good, they range instantaneously, and I ranged a speed goat at 657 yards. Great rangefinder for the money.

My esperience with the Nikons is contrary to yours. I had 2 of them and neither one would measure a clay bank at 300 yds. I had a Bushnell that would measure a fence at 500 yds. The Nikon looked great and was small but mine didn't work. I gave them away. They were new last year. I went back to my 3 year old Bushnell.
Maybe I got bad units.

I've had a bushnell yardage pro legend for about 3 yrs and have been very happy with it. Lightweight, waterproof, fairly fast with ranging.
