Ok I have three of these scopes .2 -3 X 9 `sand 1- 2.5 X 8.I like the eye relief and clarity. It seems as though the adjustments of 1/4" at 100 yds .is just a suggestion for windage & elevation on all three. Its more like an inch per click.Anybody else notice this?????

They can be hit or miss. I mounted a brand new 2.5-8x conquest on a 375 weatherby and it shot a 9" sort of triangle. This was a brand new custon rifle. Put a different scope on and it shot into an inch. Great glass but hit or miss on holding zero and adjustability. It is not to the same quality as the zeiss victory scopes but then it is only 1/4 or less of the price of the victory scopes. I would never spend more $ on a conquest than the price of the 3-9x40 or the 2.5-8x32 models. Some of the conquests are well over $500 all the way up to just under $1000 and just not worth the $ in my opinion.

It is common to find scopes where you get more adjustment per click than advertized. In fact, I always click just a bit (maybe a third?) less than what specs tell me, because many (most?) scopes tend to "over adjust".

That said, there are few brands that have such consistent adjustments as Zeiss, and that, IMHO, normally includes the Conquest series. I was sighting in 6 scopes just the other day, 5 of which were Zeiss plus one (older) Swarovski. The Conquests among these scopes had very reliable adjustments. In fact, the only one that gave me any trouble was the Swaro, which admittedly is about 15 years old by now.

My friend also sighted in 2 scopes during the same session, one of which was a Conquest: absolutely no problems. Both direction, and, within reason, adjustment per click made sight-in a breeze.

I have shot a lot of Leupold scopes, and they have always given me great service in the field. I never had one fail on me from Alaska to Africa. That said, older Leupolds, IMHO, tend to have so-so adjustments. Over adjustment is almost the order of the day. Imagine my surprise, when my friend sighted in his second scope: a Leupold 4.5-14 LR (30 mm tube - forget the official designation), I believe. If that scope was anything to go by, then Leupold have improved their adjustment mechanism markedly!

Thank you for your post. I was trying to decide between a Conquest and a VX-III. You have helped me make my decision. Thanks much.

I have five Conquest scopes and they are superb and the rifles they are on shoot very well. Previously I had bought 10 Leupold scopes and now I am buying only Conquests.

The Conquests have superior optics to the Leupold and are on my best rifles.

Get the 'power' or optic that your eye likes instead of what someone else says.

When we go to the doctor they ask us what lens we like!

Do that with your optics.

I guess the point being made is I thought it a bit odd that three Brand new Scopes adjustments would all be off. They hold their zero just fine.It just is hard to fine tune where your groups wind up.I find no other fault with these scopes and was just wondering if they all were like that or I just got LUCKY!!!!!! Cool

Hi Old,
It was with some concern after having read the above that I sighted in my new 1.8-5.5x Conquest just a few minuets ago.
No adjustments had been made to the scope as it came from the factory. It was clamped on the rifle and fired. The first shot in a clean barrel was right on for elevation and one and a half inches to the right. Some quick adjustment to the l/r turret which had the recticle tracking as it should and it was bang on. In my view that says a lot for Ziess's ability to produce quality equipment. clap
The last Leupold scope I had was a 2.5-8x which was without doubt the worst scope I have ever had. At the range I could see two 50 yards markers on the left side of the scope where there was only one, it was double imaging. The right side of the picture was fine.

Yours, another Old
