I took my 3006 to the range today with a bsa scope mounted on it.I would fire a 3 shot group and try to adjust POI.all groups were easily under an inch, but the scope adjustments did nothing.no movement at all until i had dialed in almost 12 MOA.what a surprise.

I bought one a while back while I was strapped for cash in school, and found it was garbage too. Ditched that one fast.

There is that old adage about getting what you pay for, unfortunately true. Except for the Leupold Rifleman series - a friend of mine picked one up for $149 on sale at Cabelas about 6 weeks ago. That has got to be close to what you payed for the BSA - mine was $119 about 6 years ago.

How do you spell junk scope? BSA!

Don't waste your time. For that price range, Simmons is hard to beat.

.......well, yes!

Why not save up a bit more and bypass Simmons. Move up to a Sightron SII, Burris Fullfiels II, Nikon Buckmaster or Monarch, Bushnell Elite 3200, or Leupold VX-II??

Good Luck!

BSA stands for "Better Stay Away" A co-worker of mine was in a hunting camp with one of the sales execs for BSA and he had a Zeiss scope on his rifle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunatly the old adage "you get what you pay for" rings true.
An Elite 3200 will give good bang for the buck. However they're no subsitute for the 4200.
You can find a Zeis Conquest in the States for $399.
Save up for good one & don't look back.

Bad Scope Association
Better Stay Away
Broken Scope Assembly

I could go on, but they are quite simply junk. Same goes for NC Star, Barska (Barfska) and others. I used trash barrel scopes for a number of years and finally learned my lesson the hard way. I have little respect for Simmons either since I experienced their horrible warranty service. It took them about eight months to send me a replacement, which I immediately sold because I wanted no more to do with them.

Wel add my name to the list that thinks BSA ( BullshitAlways) scope suck.. and so does there customer service...

picked up one for a rim fire rifle...they ought to be able to handle that... they do, but their target knobs can't evidently...

so then to get a $69.00 scope repaired, go to their web site... they want like $19.95 to look at it, plus $10.00 shipping and handling, Minimum...So they want $30.00 plus to repair a $69.00 scope...

And then their stuff comes with a ONE year warranty only.... or should we call it one week long hunting season only...

It is just reworked Tasco products, attached to crappy customer service,.. and when you do get them, it is grossly overpriced...for what the price of their products are worth.....

for those of you that say you get what you paid for... wrong!!!!

I paid only $69.00 for this thing, and I certainly didn't even get $69.00 worth out of it...

So it should be.. You get what you paid for..... and sometimes even less!!!!like with BSA.....

What about Barska? I'm looking at the 17HMR scopes from both BSA and Barska, I can't afford to pay $400 for a Leupold for a long range squirrel gun.

I'll second that. I think out of all the lower end scopes the Bushnell Banner series is probably one of the better choices. They are still made in China so don't expect superb quality, but I would still take one of those ahead of a BSA or Barska. I don't know anything about their customer service, but I don't think anything can come close to how bad Simmons is regarding warranty service.

Well I don't care how good one thinks Weaver, Simmons or Redfield scopes are....

But since they are owned by Meade... and considering my experience with their customer service.. I wouldn't touch anyone of them, regardless of price....

Ya want a cheap scope for a 17 HMR.. check out Cabelas Scopes on their web site... .one thing about Cabelas over BSA, Barska, Weaver, Simmons, Redfield, and even Burris... Cabelas at least backs up their stuff with their name on it....

Someone gave me a 4 power Cabelas scope that they had go bad.. I sent it back to Cabelas and told them I had picked it up in one of their stores when I was in Nebraska once.....

They asked me no questions.. replaced it with a brand new one, and sent me a note telling me it was a pleasure to be able to serve me and they hoped that the replace scope was acceptable....

of course it was...

I really think Cabelas Scopes are overpriced for what you get... but considering they back them up and the Weavers, Simmons, BSA, Barska et al crowd don't....Cabelas overpriced ones are suddently a bargain compared to the brands that are essential disposable when their companies won't back them up....

Maybe these companies are hiring ex oil company execs now...

From the frying pan into the fire !!! Why would anyone want a Simmons ??? I won't even sell them in my shop anymore. Every single one that I've ever seen, the adjustments will not track straight. It seems that when adjusting, you have to go up 2 clicks and over 1 click to get it straight up. Save your money and buy a Buckmaster, Weaver or a Leupold Rifleman or Burris Fullfield 2. You'll be buying one anyways after you waste your money on a Simmons.

LWD ;I correct you; junk scope = BSA and Norconia, Haweye, Urco, Shilba, Hokken and some "old brands" usually Made in Japan or USA , but today MADE IN CHINA !!! (Try a B&L , Bushnell, Winchester or Tasco China Made optics)
China is a great world junk processator, his motto; buy world trash, Recycle it (add value) and sell it again, but more expensive.

My RWS 48 blew out a Simmons 6x "air rifle" scope before I could finish sighting it in.

Have not yet managed to wreck the Swift 685M that replaced it.
