To mount a straight tubed one-inch telescopic sight on a Marlin 1895 as low over the centerline of the bore as possible, what [combinations of] top mount-rings are among the lowest?

Weaver style bases with extra low rings would probably be the lowest you could get.

I like the Burris Zee Rings in the extra low height for tasks like this.
