My PH in Zimbabwe had a pair of the Leicas, they were wonderful. They are no longer made, and I'm wondering what other brand(s) would come close in style, size, & performance?

Joe, I think you'll find a pair of 8x30 or 8x32 binos from any of the major top-end manufacturers will fit the bill. There's something about 8 power that seems to make our eyes most comfortable, with good field of view, crisp, sharp images, and easy carry. My favorite hunting glass, for sure.

Try the Leica 8x32 Ultravid HD. Better glass yet and just as tough.

Given that I wear glasses I've found that the Zeiss Victory have the best eye relief for me. I have both 8x32's and 10x32's and they are fantastic.

I still love the Leica glass (I have 10x42 HD's) but I have issues with the eye relief of the Leica's. I have to remember to wear contacts with them.

Anyway, Leica, Swaro, Ziess Victory - take your pick. None of them are bad in any way.

Regards,

Robert
