I found this recently and couldn't resist. I've been using one for shooting competition for many years. Since I'm a sucker for these things, now I have two... I've had mine for so many years I have no idea just when I got it or what I paid for it. What are these worth now days? This came complete with the case and a tripod. The lens is 60X. It's in really excellent shape. Everything works and the image is very clear. Are lower power lenses available? I don't need two of these and I don't know what to ask for it. Gunshow season is coming up. Dick Wright

Great scope. For a general guide on pricing, I'd look on EBAY.

Yes, different power eyepieces are out there. I may have an extra. I can find out by tomorrow. I can also look up the contact info for the guy who sold me some parts. There's a gunsmith who makes (or made) a bracket to turn two of those scopes into "big eyes" binoculars. Kevin Cram of Montour County Rifles. http://www.montourcountyrifles.com/

Has any of tried LEICA spotting scopes? We have tried many different makes and models, and have not found as good as the LEICA.

Saeed--Have you tried and older Bausch & Lomb made in Rochester, NY? If so, how did it compare with the Leica?

I have not tried that particular one. But have tried many others, and non was as good as the Leica.

I have never come across their spotting scopes but have great admiration for the old Bausch & Lomb optical integrity. It is one of the great shames that their outlook on riflescopes/mounts did not prevail and develop.

If you have an extra and will part with it, let me know how much and what power. Thanks, Dick Wright

Saeed, I have a Leica with a 20-60x eyepiece and it is a very good scope. That said I sometimes have problems with .22 cal.holes in the black at 300y. That is probably do to my old eyes. The fellow that runs our precision rifle matches has a big Kowa scope and it seems to be very good. I find this interesting since back in the 60's Bushnell sold relabeled Kowa's ( or was it the other way around?). Back then they were just average quality Japanese optics. C.G.B.

Back when B&L were made in Rochester NY, in my books, they were the best, be it scopes, binoculars or spotting scopes. EBAY is full of 7x50 binoculars that survived WW2 and they are still kicking, pretty good when they are old enough to draw social security.

I have a couple of these.. mine are both 20X. They were available with 15x, 20x, 30x, and 60x eyepieces. There is also a gadget that will hold 2 of these so you can use a pair like binoculars. I've only ever seen one once, but they are out there. And I agree Its a great scope for the money. They can usually be had for under $150 on eBay and some other forums.. You would need to spend upwards of 350-400 bucks to get a "new made" scope with the same image quality... Some of the older (1950's/60's) Japan made Swifts run a close 2nd. NRA Benefactor. I owned a B&L Rochester-made 6-24 target scope for a while. It is the only scope with which I've been able to see .22 caliber bullet holes in a paper target at 400 yards. Amazing optical quality.

My Leicas got stolen out of my pickup I suspect by some dirty rat sometime in the last couple of weeks, they were 8x42s that Saeed gave me some years back..Ive never owned a better pair of glasses, the 8x30s come pretty close..Ill be looking for a used pair or maybe I'll buy a pair GPOs and give them a try at $400 they seem to have a lot to offer. We'll see and I don't hunt anything these days but deer and elk, an ocassional Pronghorn or bear with dogs..Age limits my hunting these days..but that's not bad as I sure lived the good life for a hunter, no complaints at all..I had an old B&L at one time taped to a cut off rifle stock..It was handy for BG hunting as anything I ever used and had its own sling for the off shoulder, it was clear as a bell, I used a 15X, 20X and 30X eyepiece. For hunting the 15X filled the bill real well, it would be nice however to have a 10X for spotting the game, and sizing it up with the 20X..I lost it in a boating trip, Im using and old tasco these days and it works OK as a matter of fact, but my needs are much different. Ray, I answered your PM and quoted the price. You are more than welcome to try it and return it if you are not happy. I've used an identical scope for many yaers and have never needed anything else. The price includes the case, original from B & L and the tripod shown. The tripod needs a strap. Dick Wright

I have been using Bausch&Lomb scopes and spotting scopes for years. I had one well known dealer tell me that the older B&L's Spotting Scopes are 90% of the best and most expensive made today and at a fraction of the cost. I have had all brands of binoculars and still use some of the older Bausch and Lombs. Some of the better Bushnells aren't to scabby either.

I had a couple of AR posts bounced by some lot called Nookhill lately. Does anyone know if that is legit or some virus?
