SAFARIKIDAdvice/help needed...Swarvoski TDS or Kahles Multi Zero for Looong Range?!
OK,I am going to build me a 338-378 /338 Lapua for Long range HUNTING (not a sniper rig)...I have narrowed down to the folloing two due to size, optics & price...Swarovski 6-18x50 with TDS Reticle OR Kahles 4-12x52 with MULTI-ZERO Reticle?...Which system is better for MY application?

MultiZero by kahles is not reticle, it's a way to zero your scope for 5 different distances or 5 different load. MZ scope can have any reticle, like 4A or just red-dot. Swarovski TDS-Plex in othrt hand, has reticle with lines for different ranges.
About Kahles MZ :

SwarovskiIf you are going to use same load for every distance, I strongly recommend Swarovski.

SAFARIKIDThank you for the links,I am learning!

..Is 12 power enough for 500 yds plus?Or do we need to "crank it up"?

Hey SAFARIKID
We talked about these in a PM but I thought someone else might have a comment.
Depends upon the bullet you want to shoot. With the 210 and 225 gr bullet you would need to get the Kahles MultiZero out of the 2 you mentioned because those bullets will shoot too flat for the TDS reticle. However the Burris Ballistic Mil Dot (not the Ballistic plex) will work with these flat shooting bullets.
With the 250 grain bullets the TDS reticle would be fine.
The Burris Black Diamond with the BMD will be about 1/2 the price of the Kahles or the Swarovski.
The Kahles will be a keeper that you can move to any of your rifles and make it work. I think 12 power is enough for 500 yard big game and it will have a wider field of view at the lower power which is useful on a hunt.

GustavoI guess that you should base your decision on which scope better suits your needs.
If you have a stadia-type reticle ( which is recommended for LRH ) then before all you must your trajectory as well as you know your rifle/scope combo)
Please check this thread, you can find interesting info that IMHO applies to what you are looking for. BTW, both reticles are included.

!0 power is enough even to 1K..... If you do not intend to shoot past 5 or 6 hundred yards then the scopes that you mentioned wil surfice, but if you want to go to 1K and beyound you should take a hard look at Nightforce,S&B PMll,US Optics,And IOR.... Try Hunters Edge for prices on Nightforce at 660-672-2277.....
I use Nightforce NXS and they are excelent...
