The LTR in .308 has a 20" heavy fluted barrel so while heavy, it can do double-duty as a sniper rifle (500 yards) and a hunting rifle (from stands mostly). I'm looking for a scope ~$1K range - 1st focal plane - illum reticle - mil dot or hash marks for range estimation - 30 mm tube - objective lens <44 mm (it's a small rifle) Any recommendations? Vortex Viper PST FFP 4-16x50. Well made, clear, sharp, excellent customer service. SWFA Super Sniper 3-15X42. Supposed to be a good rival to the Vortex. I haven't personally looked at the Super Sniper, but have heard very good things from guys that I trust. Bushnell 3-12X44 Elite Tactical with the G2DMR reticle. Good optics, great reticle. Customer service is spotty, and I don't like the turrets. If you think that you will punch paper further than 500 yards the higher mag scopes are nice. The Bushnell has the best reticle of the three, but the poorest customer service. The Vortex would be the first one that I would look at. Jeremy | |||
