I have several Conquest that I like. Went shooting at the range with a couple Grandsons yesterday and they said the rifle with the Diavari was much sharper. It really seems to be better. Is it different than the Conquest?

Butch, the Diavari is Zeiss' traditional high-end or premium line of riflescopes. They introduced the Conquest at a much lower pricepoint to gain share in that part of the market, against the better offerings in the Leupold, Burris and Nikon line-ups.

Yes, they are better. Better lenses, better coatings, brighter and probably better controls though the latter is a personal issue…the real question is are they 40-50% better in terms of price? The Conquest line is being phased down or out and there are some pretty good deals to be had right now. In my view they offer nearly all I want in and “everyday” riflescope for the price and seem brighter to my eye than the competition in that price range. Really though you can’t go wrong with any Zeiss. Best place to buy Zeiss is here: Eurooptic "Diligentia - Vis - Celeritas" NRA Benefactor Member Member DRSS

Well I bought this one several year ago and thought it was a Conquest. Grandson won't turn it loose. Thanks

Conquest is a great scope. You can find the 3-9x40 on close-out for $299. My friend just got one from CameraLandNY (I think it was a demo for that price). Cabelas and others have them new for $349. I had a Conquest 3.5-10x44 on a rifle I sold earlier this year - great scope. Several friends have the 4.5-14x44 version. I just stepped up to the Victory Diavaris for my Mauser M03. I bought a discontinued Conquest 1.8-5.5 for my son's Remington 35 Whelen pump. It is a biggish, strangely shaped scope for its size range but has reasonable field blending, even compared with the modern Victory Diavari. The latter can be had with the reticle in the forward position ('1st focal plane'), though, and I would prefer that despite the decadence of them just being one end or the other of the erector tube now. But since the days of the seamless transition seem to have passed, that probably doesn't matter any more unless you want a range-finder reticle. So, unless money is no object or you have to see what sort of buttons are on a fly's fly, the Conquest should be quite good enough.
