I put a Leupold VXI 1-4 shotgun scope with heavy reticle and 75 yd paralax on my #1 in 35 Whelen and will do the same with the 9.3x74R. I also sent my rings back to Ruger and had them exchaneged for the double extended version. The VXI 1-4 goes for about $189 on the web. My second choice would be something in a 2-7. I have the Leupold Euro 30mm 1.25 x 4 with a heavy #4 reticle on my 376 Steyr. It is very small light and short and very clear. I took a big Eland through the neck last month at 200 yards using this combination. However, I think I will move up to the 2x7x33 Euro for this rifle. On your rifle I think it would be near perfect. Length is 9.4" weight is 10.5 oz/298 grams Eye relief 4.4(1.25) to 3.8(4x). Maximun ring spacing is 5.4". Front ring 2.1" rear ring 2.0" FOV is 74.2' at 1.25x and 28.9' at 4x. Hope this helps.

i just put a matte VX 1.5X5 with a heavy duplex on mine. The standard rings were Ok for me. The scope looks great on the gun and will give me all the flexibility I need with it. The 1X4 would probably be an equally good choice. I tried to find a German #4 reticle but could not locate one. Good luck with your 9.3!
