| I have a 1.25x4 on my Serengeti in 376 Steyr. It has a #4 reticle which I like as my eyes are not a good as they use to be when I was flying and I have trouble seeing fine crosshairs. This scope is short but is plenty long for mounting on most rifles because the Objective is also 30mm. It is very light in weight at just over 9ozs (I think) I have it mounted in Talley mounts. What I don't like: The quick focus eye piece is not locked or frictioned so if you try to use a flip up scope cover it can rotate and jam the gun when you try to operate the bolt. I travel with both scope covers on and remove the rear cover before hunting. Because the scope is short and it has a very wide FOV; I can see the front site and part of the 23 inch barrel even on 4 power. Four power is actually around 3.8 and I like a little more magnification in a scope. When I ordered this scope they were out of the 2x7x33 which is a little longer and only slightly heavier. I would rather have the 2x7 on this caliber rifle and I may get one and put the 1.25x4 on my 45-70 This scope is about 5 years old so some improvements may have been made. It has been to Africa twice and my longest shot was about 165 yards on a moving Eland. It was enough for that as my 270 grain A-Frame found its marke and went completely throught the Eland and he was DRT. Hope this helps. |

Are you aware that the turret adjustments are metric (1 click is 1cm @ 100metres), rather than the usual ¼MOA? The 30mm tube will gain you very little in light transmission but greater windage/elevation adjustments. The rest of the scope appears to be built to the new VX-3 spec's & the 40mm version I looked through appears much the same as my 1" tube VX-3. |
