Hey everyone, Just showing off my new ( Used ) Lyman 438 Field Scope (4X), with Target Micrometer click mounts, I recently picked up from Gunbroker. They were in production from " 1930 - 1947 " ( First production 3X / Later production 4X ), and offered in two types of mounts. Photo example: Unmarked similar type, mounted on a Remington 513T. Reticules: Twisted wire post & circle, which were listed as " Aperture ". (Old Gunsights & Rifle Scopes: Nick Stroebel) It had some old dust & oil on the micrometer adjustments. So, I disassembled them for cleaning. Somebody, had it previously cleaned / rebuilt ? (my opinion). The plunger tension springs (3) were like new, Micrometer threads were very clean (no rust) & the glass was very clear.

That's nice and the view is good suggesting it was well cared for or possibly rebuilt. Nice find. Very nice. NRA Life Member DRSS-Claflin Chapter Mannlicher Collectors Assn KCCA IAA
