I am considering a Vortex Viper 4-12x for a new .223 rifle. Doug has recommended them highly. My other option was a Nikon.

Any experience with the Vortex scopes???

I am not sure where I have been hiding, but I have never heard of them.

Google Vortex rifle scopes. American family run business with a Leuopld forever type warranty. The few reviews that are around have been very, very good. Doug has stated they are similar to a Zeiss Conquest at a lower price. Currently a $50 rebate from Vortex.

I have Vortex Crossfires with the illuminated reticle on my Model 70 30-06 and my Model 70 .223. Could not be more pleased with them.

I have 2 of the cheaper diamondbacks on 2 of my 22's and they are darn nice scopes. Very clear, nice adjustments. They due have shorter eye relief but that is part of why I got them for the 22's.
