I am looking for suggestions for a set of rings. I purchased a RRA Varminter & will need a good set of rings for the flat top upper.

no need to spend alot for ar rings. there just isn't enuf recoil to warrant expensive rings. only thing is to make sure you get them high enough. the flattop design doesn't give you much room for a scope bell, especially a 50mm one. take a look through midway or the like and you'll find that there are special high rings for ar's

Millett ultra-highs are probably the cheapest way to go.

Another nice way to do a flattop would be to use a clamp-on riser and the appropriate ring height. Choose one with a clamp rail that allows it to "tip off" and you can switch from scope to irons without seriously disturbing the scope zero.

I just purchased a DPMS LR 260 model that looks to be the same as the RRA for the flat top upper.

I found that the PRW rings (Leupold) in meduim height allowed me to mount a IOR scope with the 50mm objective with a small amount of clearance to the guard.

I may go to the high ring in this series after I shoot the gun a few times. It seems that the scope may be just a touch lower that my eye likes.
