My smith is in the process of putting bases and rings on my .300 H&H pre-64 M70. We decided to go with the dual dove-tail Leupolds (low). The problem is that they will not fit on the rear bridge. In fact, and according to Leupold, the ONLY mounts/rings that will work on a pre-64 M70 magnum action is their Quick Release rings. I find this very hard to believe, but...

So, what rings should I use? I am mounting a Leupold 6X, with 36mm objective.

There are Weaver style steel bases that will allow the irons to be seen and the QR rings will permit this.

Consider having the smith round off the levers on the QR rings as they are sharp.
