I used a sharpie on mine. However, if it is bad, send it to Leupold, they will fix it very reasonably.

Birchwood Casey makes a product called "Super Black Instant Touch Up Pen" in either flat or gloss black. It is like a magic marker. I use it on all my scopes and after it dries I go over the repair very lightly with 4/0 steel wool. I just bought one for seven bucks at Sportsman's Warehouse.

What did we do before Sharpies, duct tape and WD40?
Is there anything they can't fix?
I use a Sharpie for everything.
