I just visited Ryan Breeding's website, and it looks like he's building a great rifle. www.rbbigbores.com AD

Alf, The J. P. Smithson setup is the sweetest I have seen. Some sort of plunger on the rear ring to lock in place? Can this be done to a SigArms Mauser 98 Magnum?

Alf, I agree that Breeding's guns are fantastic. I also liked what I saw from Fanzoj and Hartman & Weiss.

Best guns: I went to the ACGG show, and was amazed that all these folks like Biesen/Wisner/Dressel/Lind etc are real live people, all with best guns. At SCI, I drooled over Butch Searcy's guns. I also loved the .17HMR double rifle ($135K). You forgot to mention it's a sidelever. I love sidelevers. And it was tiny. I'm not sure it was even 1/3 the size of a standard double. Despite the fact I've seen them written up last year, I was also impressed by: 1) The Fuchs bolt-action double rifle; it ejects and loads both barrels with each stroke of the bolt ($88-123K). Amazingly, it's only 11lbs 2) The Fanzoj (sp?) tri-bore shotgun. Three barrels at 6.5 lbs. Finally, I loved the rotary action Hoening rifles and shotguns in the NECG booth. Steve

Where can I get information on the Smithson scope and sight system? _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Alf, I thought the little 22 double at Champlain's was cute. I also REALLY liked the "Tom and Jerry" Enfield at the Guild show. And, of course Allen's Echols' 338. Wink, I also was quite taken with that mounting system. I grabbed his card. He doesn't appear to have an e-mail address but here's his phone and land address: J.P. Smithson 1194 N. 240 E. At SCI I liked the Thos. Burgess & D'Arcy Echols "Classic" as a working gun. At the Gun Guild Show I like the Jerry Fischer & TB 3rd Ultimate Enffield. At The Bladesmith Show I liked a working folder by Mark Senstz (I may have to check my notes for spelling on this one). Alf, I am sorry I didn't see you...jim if you're too busy to hunt, you're too busy.

GMA offers the Smithson mount/ring option on their actions and barreled actions as well. The last I heard it was a $600 option. Money well spent, in my opinion. Alf, did Smithson say what his backlog looks like now? Last year, Joe told me he had at least a two year backlog before he could even start on a new full custom project. ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon
