I would love to see some really big buffalo trophies. Not offering any money or reward, juat bragging rights. Sorry Saeed I know this sort of stuff drives you crazy. Not starting any inner circle clubs here or anything! Just wanting to see some photos of great buffalo taken by the forum members. Please give us all the pertinent info along with the picture. Where, when, with what PH, size of boss and width of spread. Any good hunt details.

Here's my buffalo, not real wide but super bosses!! 16 1/2 inches bosses... All I wanted was a nice deep curl and great bosses, I wasn't real intrested in a wide bull just a good looking one for my first. Maybe next time a wide one, maybe.......


Took him in 2003 in Zimbabwe with Buffalo Range Safaris, PH Brent Leesmay.
Shot him at 60 yards with a Remington .416, iron sights. "One shot - One kill"

One of the most exiting animals I've ever hunted! First time I hunted someting that wanted to kill me more then I wanted to kill him!!!!! Can't wait to do it again!!!!!

Check out my bull on my web page...He has been posted here in the past, but I have no clue where to find him...

He was old as Mathusla, shiny worn slick big bosses, lion scars and no tail with a world of drop and mass...from tip to tip measured around the curve he beat the socks off a flat horned 53 incher I shot many years ago.

He is my bull, Pierre van Tonder,my business partner, my PH, my adopted son, and my best friend made it the best hunt of my life, and he shot one nearly as good at the same time...We were a happy pair that day. How wide is he, I don't know, never measured his spread but I guess perhaps 40 inches or so, but you can't measure a buff by spread, there is so much more to it than that, and the size of his fighting heart adds a lot of inches.....

I have no idea what he would score, nor do I care. His head graces my library and gives me hours of pleasure staring at him and remembering the hunt!

I shot him at about 125 yards using a custom 416 Rem. Mag.

In regards to Ray's first picture,

JEEZZZ that thing is old and grizzled looking. I'll bet he's been through the ringer a few times. And the buff in that picture ain't to pretty either!

I've got a few buff pictures to post as Just nice old bulls I think they fall into the "big" catagory. Of course any buff taken the right way is a trophy in my book.

My friend Pat took this buff last year in the Dande. It was his first buffalo he's ever taken.
He killed it with his .458 Lott PH was Lance Nesbitt of Swainsons Safaris.This bull went right on 40"





I killed this bull in the Kilombero with my .458Lott 4 years ago. One frontal soft point and two up the rear. He wasn't really wide because he swept back at a radical angle but he has all the goods. Nice boss thick out to the tips and a big bodied old bull. PH Wayne Stanton Miombo Safaris





This bull is also not so wide but he is a big mature old bull with massive bosses. This bull was also taken Tanzania with Wyane Stanton. Also killed with my .458 Lott.

Notice the white ring around his neck. That is an old snare scar and I also found a .72 cal cold rolled musket ball under the skin of his left shoulder. truely a battle scared old verteran!

Yes he was a Selous Bull as are the others with Pierre, Saeed, and I....

4 years ago I almost shot a 48 inch or better bull in the Selous, but he was older and wiser than I, he certainly gave us the slip, bit time...We saluted him goodbye and shall he forever spread his genes...

Here's a couple of monsters to add to the list.

This hard-bossed 48inch dugga booy was taken by our client Mitch Besso in Oct last year w/ a .416 Remington. [PH - Harpreet Brar]



This old 46.5 inch beauty was taken by our client David McNeil November of last year w/ his Westley Richards .500 [PH - Harpreet Brar]




Both were shot in our Ruhudji concession, which is Southwest of the Selous.

Mitch Besso's bull is truly exceptional. I understand that Ruhudji is slightly west and south of the Selous. Harpreet told me you have a relatively small quota and strive to keep up the quality. Obviously, you are doing something right. I have seen some pretty exceptional lions as well from your website.

All the bulls come from western Tanzania,the 45 incher is from Kigosi and the other ones are from Moyowosi.
I'm a ph blessed with a few active clients who have a lot of time to hunt for specific trophies.

Yes you're right we purposelly reduce our quoto's and do fewer hunts in our areas in order to give our clients the opportunity to hunt in game rich areas w/ big trophies. Thanks!

I'd rather shoot old than big, and best of all, for example, Ray's old Methusalah, is old AND big.

Better hunting and better days and better hunting days to all.

Lots of nice buffalo on here, any one of them would suit me for my next bull if I ever hunt them again, I think I abused my passion and it has dulled my desires and that is unfortunate, but I still love to talk the talk, and talk calibers and the things that go with hunting......I still like to hunt deer with my grandson, and with my 25-35 Win. carbine behind my house if I can draw a tag.

Hopefully this slump will wear off, but in the meantime I will follow my other passion and that is team roping..

Hey DB Bill, I saw you shoot that one on film! Great bull, but I cant remember which film it was in!
By the way, I worked up a load for that little double rifle I bought from you, and got it shooting fine as frog fuzz!
