I have hunted Botswana in September and RSA in July. Both great times. Looking at Namibia next year. How is the month of May? May just aligns with our schedule better if it is a good month to go.

When I go again...I'll go the same time as I went before...we went last week May and finished up in June! It was excellent...we timed it for the Kudu Rut Weather was FANTASTIC....cool mornings for certain but by 10am the jackets were off But things got especially cool again starting at 5pm or so Good luck! I did my trip to Namibia in May and thought it was perfect timing - particularly if you can't stand high temps. Mornings were very cool (some were just below freezing) but the day warmed nicely to temps in the high 70's F. Also the kudu rut is on!!!

I believe the kudu rut takes place in May. That would be a bonus in my book. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. A great time to go. Check Lisa's and my hunt reports from May 14-29 last year. Went to both Omujeve and the Doro !Nawas Conservancy and it was a perfect time. Will you try to hunt with Corne and Nic this time?

I was there at the end of April/ beginning of May. I had a great hunt. I enjoyed the crisp (some might say cold) mornings.

I went the middle 2 weeks in May in 2007 and the last 2 weeks of March in 2010. May was perfect, kudu and warthog rutting, cooler dry weather. When I go again, this is the time of year I'll go.

Went to Namibia in late may/ early june 2011. Take ski hat and gloves, we didn't and froze on the back of the truck on the way out in the morning, and as soon as the sun was down, it was COLD. Great for hunting, imo, just need the right clothes. Enjoy DSC SCI Life NRA Life WSF Life <1 Club

IMO late May, early June is perfect for temperatures and the ongoing rutting activity.

I'll echo what others have already said...late May/early June was wonderful. The kudu rut is still going on and it just doesn't get any better than that! "The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching". - John Wooden

Blank, looking at a few options. Would love to hunt with Nic and Corne at some point. David can fill you in on our discussion. He is involved in it.

Wonderful; been chatting with him every day from Moz. Sound like he still has a few very interesting weeks to go. I look forward to his return and stories from the bush.

I've hunted there in May.mornings can be cold ie 30 -40F but late mornings to evening is beautiful,60-75f.great time to hunt.Light long underwear eg icebreaker wool, long sleeved shirt, sweater or sweat shirt and a wind break / rain layer will do well. Agree with a pair of gloves and cap with ear flaps or watch cap for AM rides in the cruiser.Multiple light layers are the key. Enjoy. Jim

May = November in the Northern Hemisphere. Always a good time for hunting. More hunters go in June ("December") and July ("January") simply because of work/school schedules, but May should be a great time and if you go earlier in May the airline tickets should be a bit less expensive.

I hunted near Kamanjab Namibia this May and it was awesome. Mornings were low 40's and I literally never saw a single cloud in 10 days. Kudu were rutting and the airfare was cheaper than later in the year. Jesus saves, but Moses invests

LJ, You'll have agreat hunt in May but later will be better. During the winter it is cold and windy which makes the game hucker down. As it gets hotter later in the season the game will be more visible. Mark MARK H. Late August early September when temps are high and rain is non-existent......provided your property has good water. I would also time the moon as I was amazed how switched off the local game became the minute the moon was full.

The weather in May is turning towards cold, but it should be fine for hunting. The crucial question is whether Namibia will be get rain this coming spring/summer. Right now the country is suffering from very serious drought. Just returned from hunting south of Etosha Pan between Outjo and Kamanjab. The 70,000 acre game farm has minimal grass and the owners are feeding the large population of eland, kudu (warthog and guinea fowl!) with pellets. Gemsbok seemed to be fine although we ran across carcasses of old beasts that just hadn't been able to make it. So, stay tuned to the weather because a further year of bad/no rains will mean major trouble for game survival. Regards, Tim
