Hi guys,
Finally I made it. After tons of paperwork, translations from spanish to english, certified copies of thousands of thing 50000000 million emails, calss, and 15 panic attacks. My group has the short term philantropic permission to work in Zimbabwe.
We are a group of 14 dentist with more than 14 year experience that are going to treat 3000 thousand people in 11 days.
We have been doing international help several years. We have been in Nicaragua, Honduras, India and Guatemala.
On 2010 safari I thought I ought to help the people from the country that has given my so much.
I hunted my first elephant in Zimb at the age of 24. Since then I have hunted several times there bagging 5 more elephants, 3 buffaloes,1 lion, 2 leopards, and a lot of plainsgame. Asked my wife to marry me,had my bachelor´s party, went on my honey moon and made my wife fall in love with Africa.
I spoke with my friend Mark Butcher from MATUPULA SAFARIS and he said he would provide camps, transportation, food and would take care of all the paperwork on his side. He also mAde a call to one of his american(U.S) clients that has donated the money for the materials. (he wants to remain anonimous but thanks to you Mr. X).
The effort, time, sleepless night, etc that have been poored in this project are diminished by the task we are going to acomplish. it is going to be a drop in the ocean but the ocean is made out of small drops;-)
Thanks to Matupula hunters, our philantropic american, The Osprey filming company, air 2000,Ache translators, my wife, my dentist friends how will come along with me and all the people that have made possible this.
I will try to give a full report when back on the 12 of december.
Thanks
PS. Is any AR fellow member going to be in Johanesburg (tambo airport) on the 24th of November. i have a long stay there and would enjoy a little chat about hunting

What a fantastic gesture and effort! Well done! tu2 I wish you the very best of everything for you and your friends.

I'm really sorry that I cannot be in Johannesburg on Thursday. Would like to shake your hand and say "Thank you!".

A thought for your group? Please do not forget to also afford some treatment for the thousands of aged Zimbabweans [both blacks and whites] living in dire need in old age homes.

Please convey my thanks to every dentist and othe also involved.

In good hunting.

One can cure:

Lack of knowledge – by instruction. Lack of skills – by practice. Lack of experience – by time doing it.

One cannot cure:

Stupidity – nothing helps! Anti hunting sentiments – nothing helps! Put-‘n-Take Outfitters – money rules!

My very long ago ancestors needed and loved to eat meat. Today I still hunt!

That is an awesome thing. I had planned to something similar in the Gonerezhou area for a certain outfitter more informally. Unfortunately his credibilty issues forced me to take this off the board.

Your local malcontent never likes lawyers, until he is in trouble and really needs one (civil or criminal) OR until his kid wants to go to law school and he needs someone to write him/her a letter of recommendation. At such times, you see a 180' change in attitude and no hesitation in asking a lawyer for help.

Diego, you are a gentleman AND a scholar !

Your humanitarian efforts will no doubt be rewarded in returns of positive Karma.

You are a beacon of shining light amongst all men and hunters, and more proof that hunting is, and hunters are, more than about the taking of game animals.

My sincerest gratitude to you and your team.

My very best wishes for safe travel and a successful "mission".

I tip my hat to you Sir.

Paul.

I am back. Due to burocratic endless problems we have only managed to give dental treatments to 1173 people in 4,5 days whereas we where expecting to work 10 days. This has beeen a little sad but we have done our best. The works done on this people have been rooth canal, fillings and extractions. People where overwelmed and have asked if we are going to go back.... I hope to do this every year on regular bases. Thanks to Matupula safaris and to D3 and all my people for making this possible. If some one can put up photos I will gladly provide them

Diego,

Nicely done. Lot of learning in your first experience by the sound of it. Next time you'll do the full 10 days, I'll bet.

An effort worthy of emulation. While there are many different medical missions that go to Africa, is anyone aware of any medical missions having worked with a safari company where the providers dedicate time for the med mission and then get in some hunting before returning home?

Thanks
