Charlie64Introduction and first post
Hi all, Having lurked in the shadows and followed AR for some time now, I have taken the step and now signed up as a new joiner and would like to briefly say hi and introduce myself.
But firstly, thanks to Saeed and everyone else behind AR for making it a fantastic site!
As to myself, I am currently based in West Africa having moved 5 years ago from RSA and before that Europe. Both I and my wife hunt and shoot, with my passion being wingshooting, where I have been fortunate to shoot pheasant, partridge, woodcock and grouse in Europe and various species in Africa! When it comes to a rifle as opposed to a shotgun - it has to be warthog and wildebeest in Africa followed by gams / chamois, red and roe in Europe.
Our gun cabinet runs from far too many shotguns thru to Krieghoffs in 470 and 375, a tack driver 416 and various smaller calibers.
And finally working / gun dogs .... the house is full with pointers and English Springers and we will never be without a team of four legged friends in our house!
I was not sure where to post 'new joiner intros' so if this is the wrong area please excuse me.
Again hi to all and I look forward to contributing and to trying to post some pics as we go forward.
Cheers
Charlie

I'm going to venture a translation of this. I think Andrew means young women with skin blemishes and/or acne.

MJinesGreetings Charlie, glad to have you on board. Look forward to your contributions.
As a newcomer, let me offer you the following helpful tips learned through the school of hard knocks:
1. Never mention Mark Sullivan's name unless the mention is preceded by the word "bastard" or followed by the phrase "a dick".
2. Never mention SCI unless the mention is preceded by the word "worthless" or followed by the phrase "sucks big time".
3. Never suggest that any caliber rifle larger than .375 is advisable for dangerous game hunting of any type unless you are suggesting than bigger calibers are reserved for those compensating for Freudian inadequacies.
4. Never start a thread with the phrase, "Which is better . . ." unless you are prepared to learn that neither is actually worth diddle squat.
5. Never venture into the political forum unless you are wearing a hazmat suit and prepared to spend several days going through decontamination.

MacD37.....................................................

congratulations you have found the best of the internet for hunting, and forearms info!
All good advice from MJines Charlie64, but if you have been lurking here very long you are already aware of the pit falls.
Welcome to AR, as you no doubt have found, the combined knowledge/experience to be found here is vast and found no place else on the internet in such quantity.

MJinesApologies to the Capstick haters and lion conservationotists. You have to draw the line somewhere otherwise the list starts to look akin to The Gulag Archipelago by Solzhenitsyn. So many things to hate, so little time.

surefire7Welcome! I'm pretty new myself, but lurked for a long time before I joined.
I too love hunting dogs and spend much of my time training them. I've had/have 7 English springer spaniels so far. I am a registered field trial gunner for the AKC. My wife and I hunt pheasants mostly, but also chukar and quail.
Again welcome to the forum!

bwanajayWelcome Charlie.

Charlie64Thanks everyone for numerous and hearty welcomes! No regrets yet ......
MJines - I will do my best to follow the 5 commandments!
JCS271 - on the subject of Sabattis, my wife owns one in 7x65R and swears by it. I used it once on a waterbuck hunt in the Limpopo and the forestock came off in my hand. Otherwise it worked fine !
Darin, Good to meet and thanks. Will see if I can get my wife on board too. She has a pretty good gallery to her credit and is a better rifle shot than me. Shotgun is a different matter though!!
Am based in Lagos for my sins - did not want to mention that in the first post as it may have started an avalanche of posts about 'lost and non claimed inheritance funds and letters and mails from Nigerians' and other 419 frauds that Nigeria is so famous for! Not much hunting here but Benin and Burkina are just a border or two away.
Cheers everyone!
