I'm pretty sure it's called Birdus invisibilis, the invisible bird. At least I can't see it on my screen.

That is a different species than the common Go Away bird. It does not have the distinct "goawaay" call that the Grey Lourie has. ______________________ Age and Treachery Will Always Overcome Youth and Skill

That's an interesting website of African ringtones. That go away bird is a real pest. Another pesty one is the honey guide. _______________________________

Peter, Thanks from me too for posting this site. Now that I listen to the Fish Eagle, I long to be in far off places..... In good hunting. ndrew McLaren Andrew McLaren Professional Hunter and Hunting Outfitter since 1974. http://www.mclarensafaris.com The home page to go to for custom planning of ethical and affordable hunting of plains game in South Africa! Enquire about any South African hunting directly from andrew@mclarensafaris.com After a few years of participation on forums, I have learned that: One can cure: Lack of knowledge – by instruction. Lack of skills – by practice. Lack of experience – by time doing it. One cannot cure: Stupidity – nothing helps! Anti hunting sentiments – nothing helps! Put-‘n-Take Outfitters – money rules! My very long ago ancestors needed and loved to eat meat. Today I still hunt!

Quick story about these ringtones - in January this year I was in the US doing the safari expo roadshow as usual ... had just got in to the 1st hotel fragged and jet lagged after much travelling and after unpacking had hit the sack early. I was rudely woken by a very loud and excited "Kwe voel" or "Go Away bird" calling at 3am ... I was much befuddled as to where the hell I was and what was happening, needless to say it took a while to realise it was my travelling companion's cell phone going off ... this in turn caused pandemonium while I tried to switch the darn thing off in dark and knocked the lamp over in process which added to the ruckus ... got weird stares at the breakfast table from the folks in the adjacent rooms. By the by, the person who had called was back in the RSA and calling from the farm gate asking to be let in .... phones were kept switched off in evenings thereafter.

Peter, that made me laugh as I could picture it happening. I just saw a turaco get shot by an arrow on one of Ron Oliver's videos. Fantastic and something that many of us dream of shooting just to get rid of it! I wouldn't mind having one mounted as it is so much a part of my experience in Africa. As to that ringtone website, I went back to it and noticed how "green" it is. Look at the comments on the leopard for instance... _______________________________
