Man Killed by Picture of Gun!!!

In the USA today a man was killed by a picture of a gun he was viewing on the internet. Incredible as it sounds he was viewing a photo (avatar) of a man pointing a gun at a camera and somehow the gun went off by accident and he was shot between the eyes and was pronounced DOA at his home in front of his computer. Local police found him face down on his computer keyboard with a gaping wound in the back of his head.

The owner of the gun insisted that it was unloaded and he can't understand how it could have happened but the whole incident is under investigation.

Anti-Gun organizations are calling for a ban on photos of all guns on the internet due to this tragic event. They also are calling for a ban on pictures of dead game animals that were killed by guns as well.

The BATF is looking into the safety aspects of viewing guns on the internet and is expected to ask lawmakers to enact new gun safety laws.

Democrats are crowing that they've been right all along and that guns or even photos of guns pose a significant public health and safety issue.

In the mean time all people that post photos and avatars of people with guns are asked to make certain that they aren't pointed at viewers and to provide proof of being unloaded.

This is an obvious spoof but just in case someone takes it seriously I will freely admit that I made up the whole story to point out the absurdity (my opinion) that some parties here on AR seem to think that my avatar is "inappropriate and in bad form to show a picture of yourself aiming your Rifle directly at the gentle readers that frequent this forum."

I then was asked this.... "Would you have the courtesy to change your signature photo to a more safety conscious profile with your muzzle pointed not at the readers but in a safe direction? I will even say PLEASE! Please change that inappropriate photo!"

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!! What is this world coming too? <shaking head and wondering what will be next>

What say you "gentle readers"? Are you crouching in fear? Should I turn in my guns and camera? Should Don and Saeed forever ban me for this reckless behavior?

Or should I stand up on my hind legs and commit a horribly politically incorrect act and laugh at those who would ask for my avatar to be "neutered"?

... Please don't feed the trolls and closet liberals....

I don't see any problem..."Nitrox" has his double-rifle portrayed in the same manner...ask him if he has been approached by Don & Saeed...I sure as hell hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Paranoia will destroy ya!

These whining idiots are probably some of the same ones that complained about my pictures from RSA this year because they didn't like the way the gun was positioned in the photos. Instead of arguing, I just deleted the post. I am in no way suggesting that you do the same with your avatar. I think what you should do is hunt down those that complain, point the gun at them and shoot them. Then the problem would be eliminated. If you need help, just let me know.

Thanks Saeed. The truth has a way of surfacing...just relieved we can have a place to express ourselves without all the hysteria. I think of AR as a refuge from a world gone mad with fear.

A simular thing happened to a popular gun rag some years ago. In this case, a bullet hole had been printed at the end of each artical. I thought this was a nice touch, but some folks took offence in that these bullet holes were shown to have been shot as if shooting at the reader. The gun rag discontinued the bullets holes after many letters of objection. ~~~Suluuq

Thank you Saeed, and thank you for providing us with AccurateReloading where freedom of speech (and avatars) still lives...

"I don't see any problem"
"I think of AR as a refuge from a world gone mad with fear."

Thank you RHS and I agree. Fear and political correctness will be the ruination of us yet if we don't start speaking our minds.

-----------------------------------

"These whining idiots ..... "

Thank you 1115... My sentiments exactly... Don't think I'll need your "help" but appreciate the offer....

---------------------------------------

"I thought this was a nice touch"

Rusty, So did I...

"The gun rag discontinued the bullets holes"

Too bad they bent to the pressure... I'm not trying to sell magazines... Just learn as much as I can and be free to express my opinions (and Avatars) so I'll continue....

Hi LDHunter,
If Saeed says "they don't bother us" then who else matters? I personally feel that any firearm, in any picture, should have a trigger lock on it!!!!!!!!!!!! . Being serious for a moment I still believe that AR is the best on the net and even as families argue so shall we. Take care and God bless you and yours.

Picture this: Your picture of your gun goes off. Bang! Sending a picture of a bullet toward my body. Right through my computer screen no doubt! That, makes my computer crash. While the picture of the bullet speeds toward my body I, fast as a speeding bullet, grab my trusty paper bullet proof vest. And "wallah" I'm saved in the nick of time from the devastating blow from a picture of a bullet. Unless, the picture of the bullet were to hit my head. But if I were a "tree-hugging Liberal with no common sense", the picture of the bullet would pass cleanly through doing zero damage.

Well, hell yes! A pair of 44's versus a .22-250?

No contest!

People bitching over stuff like this continually reminds me why I like my dog so much.

the only gripe I have is, if you made someone take that picture for you..

If it's with a camera timer or something, it's fine. And it's a pretty cool picture too.

How come he get's away with 2 bores (or whatever those yawning caverns are) and my 22 caliber get's all the damned attention?

Could it be my good looks?

Anyone that answers that one the way I know they want to will surely have their armpits infested with the fleas of a THOUSAND camels!!!!

The only problem I see is the calibur! It should be a bigbore you're pointing at us! That would make it more acceptable IMO!

Seriously though, I can't understand why anyone would be offended by such a picture. Unless they are of the PC persuasion...

ErikD,

I varmint and deer hunt a lot more than I hunt big nasties that bite... That was the rifle I had with me the day I decided to take the picture.

Yes.. A big bore would be more suitable but my biggest big bore that I currently own is a 300SAUM unless you count my muzzleloader... <sigh>

A buddy called me today and told me that the newest Glock catalog has several pictures of guns being pointed at the camera... I wonder if anyone has been hurt yet...

Just to get your attention properly ....

I always find the confusion between a computer screen and reality interesting .....

But Flold's double seem far more dangerous to me, but very nice to gaze at.

Where is Mickey, he has quite a pair too?
