Yes, but you have to travel to Chernobyl. Night hunting is easy, as it glows in the dark :-)

No ten to twenty percent! Crazy thing about it is that some rich person will pay that. People find ways to get rid of their money.

No, after the hunt they'll bring out a full-page tip sheet.

One of the line items: the 3 guys who maintain the fence for the .25 acre enclosure that the impala lives in.

Also, this possibly could be a great trip for one of these 'long range' hunters.

The outfitter may have a hill 700 yards from the Impala's enclosure. You get prone, and when he comes to the feeder he will be broadside.

Did the message come with a picture? I'd like to see the genetically bred freak, the same as I occasionally like looking at the 300+ inch whitetails bred on deer farms.

Are those tracking devices on the tips of its horns or protective caps so as to "preserve" the inches? Big Grin

Mike, there is a whole industry in South Africa that does this all the time.

They cater for the SCI idiots.

This sort of thing which has been glorified by SCI!

I GUARANTEE you, that any "professional" hunter that has his name with more than half a dozen SCI record book entries, is involved in this shameful story.

I actually have absolutely nothing against anyone wanted to pay any money he wishes to shoot any animal.

My objection is it is entered in a record book!

Unreal. That’s exactly what they are.

So did they dart the thing for the pic, then will let someone shoot It? Is that what I’m getting here??

Is it offered for sale as a breeding animial? This might be a breeding animal past it’s prime and being “put out to pasture”

I've obviously not see the advertisement Saeed received but I'd bet this is an offer for a breeder. Seems to be in line with other offerings we've seen in recent years for breeder buffalo going for huge sums.

All discussed before here but man, for the life of me, I can't see how the financial model works on this. At least in terms of selling hunts for the offsprings.

Seems like the old "emu" or "tulip bulb" schemes in the USA.

Might well be offered for breeding.

But I know for absolutely certainty that those in the business of proving big trophies for the SCI record book have contacts in all the auction places, and buy animals before they are offered for auction at the asking prices.

As I said earlier, all one has to do is look at the names of the professional hunters proving these.

Not doubting that.

Sure seems to me one is about as absurd as the other though. $275,000 to shoot it or to use as a breeder.

“Everyone gets a trophy” ain’t just for kids sports I reckon. The “hunt” for that particular animal was over long ago. It’s about the bragging rights now...

Pretty fucked up.

Yep!

Trophy hunting has well and truly been destroyed by SCI.

The hunt has become immaterial.

Bragging rights has become the ultimate, most stupid, competition.

It has made the honest hunters who do actually shoot great trophies seem irrelevant.

One thing I have noticed though, so many photos of these crooks and their bought "trophies" have disappeared from the websites of the criminals posing as professional hunters who provided them.

I am a life member of SCI, yet I do not participate in this nonsense.

No matter what others may think, for me, hunting is not a competition.

It can be a contest, but only between me and my prey, on any given day.

And, to be honest, my won-lost record is pretty abysmal.

But still, I am very happy with it.

I have been a Life Member of SCI for almost 40 years now, and I have never entered a single animal in the book.

Hunting has never been a competition for me.

I just enjoy it.
