Congratulations on the Searcy - looks to be a beautiful rifle.

Where in Georgia are you? I live in Wilkes County.

Good luck on the upcoming hunt.

JudgeG,

Best of good hunting with the new Searcy. Bring back a big'n!!!

Rifle sure looks good.

(When I see one of these, I always wonder if I should have waited to a used PH instead of getting the very slightly used Field Grade I bought. In the final analysis, I guess beggars can't be quite so choosey.)

Rusty:

The shots were at 50 yards from a bench.

As good as it looks, or in spite of that, I bought the Searcy to hunt with, and get the attendant dings, hell or high water. I have resigned myself to a bunch of scratches and boo-boos. I have the same attitude about mine that Ray has about his. It is a sturdy tool, beautiful in it's own right, but not a delicate flower, not a hundred-years-old... and not a little too valuable to not flinch when some dude snaps the barrels closed. In other words, if you want to take the Searcy to Africa, just ask, but if you want to shoot my Westley-Richards, don't expect me not to be in arms reach when you do! And I know you handle your doubles like a debutante's bodice.

I say the above for lots of reasons, but the most obvious is that Butch is my age. Mr. Westley is dead as hell. Butch can fix what's the matter, and if he dies before me, I've got a shovel to dig his giant ass up and make him go back to work. I know where Boron is, too. I saw it on MULE TRAIN or whatever RR hosted.

For those of you who want close ups, when I'm back at the office, I'll get one or two of the stock and engraving.

BTW, quite unsolicited, Mike from North Fork sent me a box of FPS in 500 grains for the rifle. I'm loading them up and if they shoot anywhere as well as the Woodleighs, I'm going to use them on the elephant. No one from Woodleigh has ever given me anything! I'm into back scratching those who do me right and dang... Mike, I sure do appreciate it. I'll bet those things will shoot through an Abrams! One thing for sure.. We'll see what an elephant thinks of one side the head!

Damn.. in just a few days I'll be really in a boma drinking whiskey and not here in Georgia looking at pictures of me doing it!

If you ever have to send it back to Butch and need someone to stand over him with a club give me a yell. I'm about an hour's drive away from Boron and I'd be glad to check on it, fondle it, drool over it and test fire it for you.
