I have a paid for shippment waiting for a shipping quote from them, however, I have not heard from Tax Ent in over a month. They have not answered the phone or responded to my e-mails.
Has anyone heard from them?? I know they are a very reputable company, but I'm starting to worry now...

I communicate with them regularly via telephone and e-mail. They do have endless problems with power cuts and therefore e-mail and telephones down. They do live in Zim ...

Send me your contact details and who you deal with via e-mail to jsa@mweb.co.za and I'll ask them to get hold of you tomorrow.

I just heard from them regarding a final payment for taxidermy. I paid them through a intermediary bank in NY yesterday and they immediately confirmed back with an email. Now I am like you....waiting for the actual shipment. I don't know when that will be, but I can confirm that they are still up and running (or at least accepting payment).

Been 10 weeks since my payment to them for finished trophies. They said it would be 6-8 weeks before it would be shipped.

Two weeks ago I talked to them and they had not even started to pack and no idea when the packing would be completed. They also are trying to spread everything over three crates. Less mounts this year than shipped in one crate last year.

I know they have problems and for over a year have been sympathetic in phone conversations and emails. Disturbed to learn that others are having problems.

Thanks to all of you who have assisted me here!

I still have not heard from them, and I do understand the difficulties of a new management along with the troubles in Zim....however, they must figure out a way to communicate with clients...especially clients who have already sent them lot's of money!!

If Tax Ent is reading this, let's go now and get our Sh*t together!

The big reason for delay in shipping information from them has been the need for the Zimbabwe Management Authority to come to a compromise on how they were going to meet the new U.S. Fish and WIldlife CITES regulations. This was just finalized this week. So you all should be hearing something shortly.

Carol: Can you explain that to us? My understanding is that you can still have personal items made from your elephant hide but that they have to be identified as personal items and are then subject to customs charges depending upon the value of the items made. Is that correct?

Currently there has been no change in the way Customs and Border Protection handles the importation of the made up articles. We continue to classify them as 9804.00.55 which is free of duty, taxes and fees. These articles are made up from the animals the importer of record actually hunted and they are not being sold or used for anything other than their personal use.

Only in the event that an importer purchases made up articles such as curios, rugs, etc. will the items need to be properly classified for CBP purposes as to their actual end-use. Usually those items are unconditionally free of duty since the African Growth and Opportunity Act allows exemption from duty for the majority of these items. However, Merchandise Processing Fees do apply as well as Harbor Maintenance Fees if the shipment moves via ocean.

Fish and Wildlife wants the made up CITES articles on a seperate Export Permit indicating the "P" purpose code as well as a seperate FWS entry because only one Purpose Code can be used per entry. The CITES animals that are not made up into anything would carry the "H" purpose code. These could be shipped together on the same Master Bill of Lading - however, I recommend that they be sent on a seperate House Bills of Lading in the event USDA or FWS decides to place a hold on one of the shipments.

Again we recommend that copies of the export documents be forwarded to the Broker for review prior to booking the freight.
