Anyone have any info or leads on this dude? Stumbled across the Colby room at Boston science museum. Guy was pretty interesting and had an awesome trophy room. Little to no info on the web except I found a book with original photos at Abe books for $4500. There is an obit stil on file at NY Times but haven’t paid for it yet. Anyone know anything? Love his elephant door he brought back from Kenya I want one.

Quite the life the guy lived

Saeed, that’s a different Colby.

gunslinger55, here’s an interesting article about Col. Colby:

Col. Francis T. Colby

Here’s a photo of his room as reproduced at the Boston Museum of Science:

Colby Room

It’s a must see if in Boston. Very interesting place.

Thank you.

I thought they were the same.

Imagine having two people with the same name doing that??

Yes, that is pretty remarkable.

And the Col. Colby whose gun and trophy room is pictured in the link in my post above was pretty remarkable in his own right.

I love his room and his trophies, especially the two wall-mounted black rhinos staring at each other across the room!

Every time we go to the Boston Museum of Science, all of the visitors seem to love the room, too.

Yes I found the room at the museum on an overnight for work. Great trophy room and nice gun collection. Need to find out more about him. Mercenary soldier and hunter. Quite interesting

I found some more photos. These are some of Col. Colby's rifles. Pretty sure I see some Krags in there, but can't be sure. Any guesses?

Here's the plaque posted outside the room:

Some more:

Looks like all doubles in that last one. But your guess is as good as mine as to what they are.

I read the computer virtual tour of room which had all the guns mentioned. You had to scroll through it but yes lots of Krags. Old dueling pistols and the doubleswere mostly shotguns but said his favorite elephant gun was a 10 bore. I have pics of the screen. Also a Winchester 1895 405 with a carved tiger and many tick marks etc. if you want to post then I can send them to you
