In the States, there is a bag that looks like a suitbag, but holds two rifles behind a zipper lock. It can also be folded lengthwise to become a two-gun carrying case. Carried properly (by you, of course), it is not particularly noticeable when moving into a hotel or motel. The hanger part also locks, although of course the thing needs to be surrounded by other hanging stuff, since if it is noticed, the bag can simply be cut. Regardless, it is of use in moving in unnoticed and probably allows you to go out for dinner. I would be slightly more concerned if the maid were going to come in. Ideal for car travel, probably NG for air. |

| I agree the 202 is a very nice rifle, the reasons I continue to use the Blaser R93 are, #1 I already have one, and #2, with the addition of the LH bolt carrier, I can have a rifle to loan to anyone (we are talking worldwide, here!) for a minimal ($200) extra outlay. Peter. First, find your secondhand Sauer 202 takedown. The local shop (also the distributors here in OZ) have 1 only, in 375H&H, for about $4800 AUD. People who have them, tend to keep them. They are doing package deals at the moment, something in the order of $2980 AUD, for the Outback, cased, depending on the scope. Cheers, Dave. Non Illegitium Carborundum

| ALF, I agree with everything you posted, and I admit the quality is there,in spades. If a person has to use a PF rifle for Dangerous game, then the Sauer is about as good as one can buy! The use CRF, is a matter of choice, and I simply will not hunt dangerous game with a PF rifle, as long as I have the choice. I do have the choice, a so my reccomendation to anyone asking my opinion will hear CRF, first, Good Iron sights, second, and a proper scope in QD Rings & bases, and lastly a fixed magazine. I have, and love several old Mannlicher Shoenauer rifles, which are of as fine quality as the Sauer, and are CRF to boot. They were my favorite rifles till the Steyr Mannlicher came on the market, which is a PF, and has a detachable magazine, made of plastic. I then went back to my old Mauser based rifles, and haven't looked back! I own sever al PF rifles, and one of them has a detachable magazine, but I use them on nothing larger or meaner than deer, or Elk. As I said above it is all a matter of choice, and IMO, the Sauer, is not my choice of a rifle to base a DGR on! For anything else, I can't think of a rifle better made! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith |

| I still think you should check on the Mauser. |

| For a take down like the 202, I assume that you need a scope for each barrel? Also, if you have a scope mount, NOT QD, it looks like the standard case will not allow the scope to remain mounted on the receiver, is that correct? Thanks, Peter.

| Peter. On my Sauer I have a scope for each Barrel. I tried one scope but the point of impact was 2 inches off. I like having the extra scope, just in case one gets damaged on a trip. You could get by with one, but you would have to rezero. I have the Sauer gun case that allows for two barrels, two scopes, two bolts and 4 compartment for miscellaneous items. I use Talley QD rings. In my case the scope must come off to store the receiver. CHEERS |

| Thanks Brown Dog. I have seen takedowns pictured in smaller calibers. I believe that the takedown is identified by the two piece stock ie. you take the fore end off and then remove the barrel. That's what I think, at least. peter.
