South African Airways Celebrates its 70th Anniversary by Giving Away 30 Pairs of Tickets in 30 Days on http://www.Flysaa.com
Monday June 21, 8:32 am ET
Register for Your Chance to Win Beginning July 1st

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- South African Airways (SAA), South Africa's premier airline and the continent's most awarded carrier, is giving away 30 pairs of roundtrip tickets in 30 days in celebration of its 70th Anniversary of excellence in the air. For a 30-day period, July 1st - July 30th, 2004, customers can register to win at http://www.flysaa.com. South African Airways will randomly draw the name of one lucky winner each day to receive two roundtrip tickets from the United States to South Africa.
"Commemorating 70 years in aviation is an incredible milestone," said Mark D. Ellinger, Executive Vice President for South African Airways, Americas. "There is no better way to celebrate South African Airways' longevity and success than to invite people to experience what we do best -- taking people in style and comfort to the wonders of Africa."

U.S. residents can register for the "70 Years in Aviation" drawings by visiting the South African Airways website at http://www.flysaa.com and selecting the United States from the "select a country" drop-down box. A special "pop-up" window will then invite visitors to register for the drawing.

Winners will receive a pair of roundtrip economy tickets from the United States to South Africa for travel beginning September 1st and valid for one year. Air travel will be provided from the airline's New York and Atlanta gateways on South African Airways' direct flights to Johannesburg or Cape Town, South Africa.

Registration for the drawings is limited to one entry per person. Ticket winners must be 18 years of age, are eligible to win only once, and will be notified within a 24-hour period. Passenger travel must originate in the United States and certain blackout dates apply.

Launched in 1934, South African Airways flew its first international flight in 1944 aboard a converted bomber that carried 14 passengers to Blackbushe, England, over a span of three days. Today, SAA's non-stop flight time of 15 hours and 25 minutes from Atlanta to Johannesburg is the quickest and most direct route from the U.S. to South Africa.

Together with its network of nine international alliance partners, South African Airways provides convenience in helping travelers to reach more than 700 destinations across the globe. The airline also serves more than 20 destinations across the continent of Africa, enabling passengers to connect to numerous gateways with ease.

The only airline to provide direct flights from the U.S. to South Africa, South African Airways features daily departures from New York and Atlanta that couple travel convenience with award-winning service excellence. The airline features a young fleet enhanced by new Airbus aircraft featuring the latest in airline comfort and entertainment options, as well as a style of service and warm hospitality that is proudly South African. The airline's new Premium Business Class is among the most luxurious in the skies, featuring 24-inch- wide, horizontal lie-flat beds and unparalleled service and entertainment offerings

From what was in the release, it looks like registration does not start till 7/1. I'm going to have to find a computer in an airport because I'm leaving for RSA 6/30 . . .

Sorry everybody...boy do I feel stupid!

I should have read the press release more closely. Just got excited about the chance to win free tickets and went straight to their website.

Since Holly and I have another hunt booked in April, 2005 with Coenraad Vermaak Safaris for the Eastern Cape and the Karoo regions, a pair of free tickets would mean more cash left for Trophy Fees!

Free tickets are about the only way I'd ride on that damn A340-600 again. The next trip to RSA will be United to Frankfurt, Lufthansa to Johannesburg. Thank goodness for friends in Germany whom we can stay with.

I didn't know there was going to be a test before I could submit my entry. I think I got the answers right, though.

I entered but its not clear to me if that "one entry" is per drawing (per day) or if one entry puts you name in the hat 31 times. Guess I'll try it again today and see if they'll let me enter twice.

Kathi,

I certainly appreciated the information but I have been trying for probably twenty minutes now and I cannot register for the drawing. I do not get a pop-up window. I have disabled the pop-up blockers on my computer and now am getting pop-ups on about every possible subject except applying for the free tickets.

Help!

What about the above question as to registering once, period, or once per day? I took it as once, period, but I'd sure hate to find out later that I was only in for 1 days drawing!

It may be your browser. I first tried accessing it on my iMac with the Safari browser and didn't get the pop-up. I switched to Internet Explorer and there it was.

It's bogus. I checked my popups on the browser and it is off and the site does not allow you to register.

Yeah, I thought that it might not be in my best interest in making it easier for the "compitition" to register.

But I'd always been an altruistic kind of guy... .

I'm not above instilling guilt about not getting the second seat, however. That is of course after you give the first to Kathi...

To all:

I had a "pop-up" blocker on my google toolbar that I was unaware of and which I had to disable. Once I did that, I was able to receive and open the pop-up which allowed me to register for the free drawing.

Thank you to all for letting me know how to do this. This forum again has provided me with some very valuable information.

To all:

How many times can you enter? It stated "one entry per person" but it just allowed me to enter twice today and I also had entered once yesterday.

The SAA website listed "James Collier Georgia 7/3/2004"

as a winner. Is he a member of this forum?

Nope, they lied. I've passed every one of them. Never used narcotics for recreational purposes... still don't. I think my worst vice is a good cigar now and then.

Russ, knowing what I do about you, I would never mean to imply the above. It was just in jest. I know you're as straight as the day is long.
