About as fair a depiction of a hunt as it gets from the national media.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I think a full showing of the recovery of the meat would be a great addition. I'm interested to see the fallout on this one.

350,000.00 into straight up conservation, for a species ,that will really benefit. My hat is off, to you, Cory Knowlton, DSC, and Namibia. Thank you all...

Good on Corey.

I would have appreciated CNN more if they discussed how the dollars go to directly fund rhino conservation efforts.

way to go Cory!

Glad you have the character and values to actually do something to benefit the Rhino rather than just talk about it!

Just watched it and my take is that more good than bad can come out of it for several reasons:

1) Thanks CNN for covering it in an impartial manner and not pushing an anti hunting slant

2) Corey has a lot of balls for letting CNN cover this and broadcast it as he is surely target #1 for the anti nuts

3) Great to see that it wasn't a Fluster Cuck hunt and the animal was cleanly put down.

4) Great advertisement for conservation hunting in that it was problem bull that was causing issues that needed to be removed from the ecosystem with a great side benefit for conservation funds.

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Fantastic!!! A great presentation for all to see and think about in Conservation through Hunting.

A special thanks to Corey for an incredible effort for standing as a leader in such an emotional volatile issue. It was the right thing to do.

Good, well-balanced story.

Is black rhino the original member of the big five? Or is it interchangeable with white rhino in that big 5 tradition?

Well done to all parties involved and kudos to Corey for allowing CNN to come out and film the hunt. That was a fair and objective piece written.

Amazing that hunters put their money where their mouth is yet I don't see any checks from the anti's going to Namibia for their black rhino program.

I'm surprised that CNN actually covered this in an objective manner. I thought it was very well done and am surprised that they gave it as much time as they did, rather than just showing him shooting it in a 30 second story.

Congratulations to Corey, Hentie and their team on a hunt done very well and the right way.

Read the original article and was somewhat surprised by the impartial reporting. I was even more surprised when reading a follow up article written by someone else that was also relatively objective.

The article on CNN is here:

Many Thanks to the folks involved that put this together. The only way rhinos will still be part of the animal life on Earth into the 22nd. century, is thru activities such as this.
