Tanker,
i like the shape of your blade. It really works better than a straight blade I find. I've always wandered how an antler handle would work when covered in blood, etc. Seems like a bit smooth and could "slip" especially when cutting something like a buff up. Never tried so would be curious about your experience.

Sabre:

Harry is giving good advice. Leave it home and kiss it for good luck before you leave. (Same difference as if you took it with you)

One of the great things about hunting with a PH is that you do not need to cut anything....

Really nice knife though.

___

I always struggle with what to carry and what to leave in camp. In the end I leave most stuff in camp. Here is what I might carry (but will leave most in camp):

gun
ammo in ammo carriers
binocs
bug juice
suntan lotion (leave it in the car)
knife
compass
GPS
camera
extra film
key to my suitcase
sunglasses
chapstick with SPF protection

As you can see, that's too much junk, so I try to get along with the gun, ammo, suitcase key, binos and sunglasses.

Sabre,
That is a beauty.

M1Tanker,
Yours is nice as well. What is the small circular cut out on the blade? It looks a little like the decoration on a kukri blade.

Take it! So what if you never cut anything with it, a knife that beautifull should be seen and handled by as many folks as you can show it too. Thankyou for posting the pic.

The antler handle works great. it has enough texture naturally that it doesnt slip around when covered in blood. That particular blade is the largest blade I have ever had on a hunting knife. (5") I really like the fit and balance though.

Beautiful knife. What is the purpose of the notch at the base of the blade?

Sabre:

I forgot to say that it's a beautiful looking knife - and I am not a knife man. Harry is right. Don't lose it because you might think it would be nice to have along. Where would you use it? I watched a couple of trackers get a near 1900 lb buff into a Landcruiser almost before I knew it. The real butchering was done by experts back in camp who didn't need my help. This is not hunting for whitetails where you have to field dress them immediately. Leave that nice looking blade at home.
