Probably need an export CITES, but no import CITES as far as I know for lion. But better check with Customs Brokers who are dealing with this on a daily basis, than trusting some arm chair bandit who has never seen a lion, let alone imported one!

Who is your importer?

Give them a call and ask if they will help you with your CITES paper work (they usually do). Also work with your Tanzania Outfitter to make sure the shipping paperwork is filled out correctly. The Question you are asking has presented problems in the past with customs.

The question becomes will your CITES paper work be for 2012 or 2013. From your message this is a 2012 Lion. However, you will need to make sure your lion is not confiscated because the paperwork is not filled out correctly. i have read where some hunters have had an issue with correct year and harvest number of lion taken issue. (2012 Vs 2013) It all comes down to the year and number of lion harvested for Tanzania.

I know that this is late, however when a person decided to go after a CITES listed trophy, it is usually a good idea to ask for and have the CITES paperwork prior to going on Safari. If your are successful then you are covered and if un-successful, well you were prepared.

I know that you are able to fill out the paper work after you have your trophy, i just like to have the CITES paper work in place prior to leaving.

CITES Appendix II. Yes you require a permit.
Permit from Exporting Country.

All the other fine details, as noted above, should be addressed by a pro.

kid,

You personally don't need to do anything as far as the lion CITES is concerned.
