I will be in South Africa on business in August and only have limited time. I was wondering if one of you folks knows of an outfitter who would be willing to offer a 3-day hunt. I would prefer one of the mountain areas such as the Drakensburg and would want to hunt only one or two species such as Mountain Reedbuck and/or kudu. Also, for such a short hunt, and since I will be traveling around on business for the balance of my stay, it would probably be better to rent a gun.

I can offer you a short 3-day ranch hunt on my brothers 15,000 acre private [Balla-Balla Conservancy] in the Soutpansberg mountains for those species on your wish-list plus any other you care to consider.

Logistically you would need a short 1-hr each way (connect return flight) JNB-Pietersburg-JNB from where we meet & greet and drive approx. 1.5 hours to our Conservancy ranch.

The standard daily hunting rate is $375/day all up + species hunted or wounded + dip pack freight. Arrival day charge $175, this is a non hunting day to set up sight in rifles and generally relax and prepare for the hunting the following day. No charge for the departure day back to Pietersburg airport.

Species fees as per our standard price list, we have a range of suitable rifles to loan as required.

I can send you the full species pricing list MS Word document as/if required

BUT FYI
Kudu - 1200
Mountain Reedbuck or Klipspringer - 650ea.

If you have some (extra time) maybe half to full day up your sleeve this might be worth a visit for you as it is not that far from our ranch !!!

The Venetia Diamond Mine close by Alldays is one of De Beers’ six diamond mining operations in South Africa and the only major diamond mine to be developed in South Africa in the last 25 years. Opened by former De Beers chairman, the late Harry Oppenheimer in 1992, the mine represents one of De Beers’ biggest single investments in South Africa and is the country’s largest producer of diamonds. Visits to the mine must be arranged in advance.

I can organise a hunt in the Drakensburg or the Natal midlands which is a 2 hour trip from Durban.
Species would range from Reedbuck, Mt Reedbuck, Eland. Closer to Durban the Richmond area has nice Nyala, Kudu and Bushbuck.
Give me a holler if you are interested and I will get prices to you.

loud-n-boomer,

I just hunted with Paul Schoeman, Gem Safaris near Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

He had excellent populations of mountain reedbuck and cape kudu. I took both when I hunted with him.

He is excellent!!!!!

Terrain is mountainous.

Here is my mountian reedbuck:

And my Cape kudu:

I cannot recommend Paul enough!! He was fantastic!

While some of his neighbors have high fencing, Paul does not. It is all good hard hunting, and fair chase!

Here is Gem Safaris website. It is a new website and still has lots to be added, but there is some good info there.

Trophy fee for Cape Kudu is $950 and $450 for mountain reedbuck.

I think his daily rate is $275

Let me know if I can help more!
