At the end of October I will be heading to the Deka area in Zimbabwe for an elephant / buffalo hunt. I have a 470 double rifle that I will definitely be taking, and hopefully using on both the buff and ele. My question is which of the following bolt rifles do you guys recommend as a second gun?
416 Rigby
375 HH

I'm with Jim. For me the .470 NE and the .375. I might change in the future, however, and take my .458 Lott in place of the .375. . . .

I'd take the .416, all else being equal, just because it is more gun, and IMO, more is better.

What company are you hunting with. Who is your PH. I hunted Deka in March. I plan to return in Oct.
If I was only hunting buff and elephant I would take the 416. If I was going to hunt general plains game after the buff and elephant I would take the 375.

In 2004 Ozhunter and I hunted Zim (for buff and ele) with his 470 Merkel and my 375H&H Parker Hale. This combination proved to be quite effective.

As for your 2nd DGR, my quite biased in favour of the 375 - but as Toomany Tools mentioned, I'd also suggest you pick the one you are most proficient with, assuming you own both.
