This just came up, a hunter cancelled and lost his deposit at YOUR benefit. The hunt for this May, last half. Ten day plains game hunt includes airport transfers to and from the hunting area. This is 6 hours north west of Windheok in the Loxodontia Conservancy 600,000 plus acres.

The hunt is with the first PH I hunted Africa with. Jan is excellent and as with Namibia, runs a family oriented outfit. Lodging is in private fully outfitted thatch chalets.

Ten Days: $1999 with $1000 due at booking. I don't have the trophy fee costs with me at the moment but can post them this evening or email them to interested hunts tonight.

PH's property:

Jan, PH in camo with my first kudu.

This is a great place to get a Hartmann's zebra, very good kudu and gemsbok as well.

Wow, for folks who can get off these dates this is a smoking deal!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...

And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

That's Jan duPleesis isn't it? If so, I hunted with him in 2004 and he's as good as it gets. I wish I had the time to go myself.

What a great offer. I wish I could put that into the ten days before I do Zim in September.
I would take it in a second for September.

JD, Cape buffalo do not occur in this area, it is very dry country. You would need to go to the Caprivi area if you want a buff in Namibia.

This is a great deal. I wish I could take advantage of it. I hunted here in 2005. Here is a link to my hunt report:

Hi All,

I am happy to report this hunt has sold. The lucky hunter is an A-R member and this will be his first time over.

I really appreciate all of the responses to this ad. I will try and reply to everyone to personally thank them. I know there are some phone messages to attend to yet. Sorry I have been slow on responses, I have been quite sick, I think I have the plague or something!

I am the fortunate guy who got this hunt. I have been a lurker and occasional poster here for many months. It was through this forum that I learned about Brad Dennison and I have an Alaskan bear hunt booked with him in the Spring of 2009.
Less than 72 hours ago I was bemoaning the fact that I would probably have to wait until 2010 for Africa, and it was mere happenstance that I logged on to AR a few minutes after Ann's post. AR had prepared me to leap and I jumped right through the open door. Now I'll be in Namibia in 32 days!
Many thanks to all who share their expertise here. A special thanks to Jack Atcheson. I'm on his mailing list and his literature is peppered with the admonition to hunt while you stil can. And a very special thanks to bwanamrm who warned me about those bones bleaching on the plains of hesitation.
I'll definately share all the details when I get back.

Congrats Wallace!

Ann told me I was next in line if you didn't take it.

Like you, I have been lurking here for some time and learning everything thing I can. Hope to make my first trip sometime soon too.

If anyone hears of any other short notice cancellations PLEASE let me know!!! Interested in Plains Game and maybe a buf. Would like to see the other Big 5 or 6 up close, but don't have a desire to take one.

Congrats again you lucky dog!!!!

M3Taco (interesting name), welcome to the forums! Get your name to Wendell Reich, Mark Young, Ann Horsman, etc and let it be known what you are looking for. If you are ready to go on short notice, there will be other opportunities.

Yukon Delta:

As a new “registered†member of the board, I guess I was lurking so long I forgot to intro my self.

The log in has nothing to do with food – M3 are the three initials of my name and the TACO part are my military job – Tactical Air Combat Officer. Now I am just a Lt Col Action Officer (read that staff monkey) at HQ CENTCOM.

Had hoped to take trip last fall…but things got a little busy here. Now it looks like the best I can hope for is to take advantage of a short notice “pick-up†hunt that may work into things.

Actually, hoping to get assigned to the new AFRICOM that is being stood up. For now it would be based out of Germany, but would probably entail some trips into Africa now and then – tie a TDY into a little leave en-route and could be a very nice time.

Anyway…hello to all and maybe someday I will have something to contribute to the board.

I'm pretty much locked in here. Money wired to Jan and airfare purchased. Kathi says you should be able to pick something up. Follow the advice above to spread your name about with various agents. People who can go on short notice are well received in this community.
Good luck

Wallace:

Thanks for thinking of that and more so even looking into it – I was asleep at the switch coffee and you got in ahead of me and I am very happy for you. I would have never thought of or even tried to “pull rank†on anybody, civilian or military. thumb Always figured if I couldn’t get people to do something by the application of not so common common sense and sound logic, it probably shouldn’t be done in the first place.

To all who say thank you to those of us who wear the uniform - we should be thanking you for supporting us. salute All of us who serve do so voluntarily, and fully understand the commitments and obligations that go along with swearing to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. The public’s support of us is very much appreciated! Whether or not the public is as supportive of the politics that may send us into harms way, at least the public seems to understand the difference and are now able to separate the two.

Good luck Wallace!!! Happy hunting, and post some good pictures and enjoy making some lasting memories!

You stole my trip... Good luck on the hunt, don't forget to share your experiences and photos with the rest of us, will you?
After this I was 2 days late on a good offer for Alaska spring bear hunt. Back to roe deer, it is, then!
