I am right here, and have been posting something every day. You might be avoiding the threads I post to

We are doing well, thank you, and anxiously waiting the arrival of our friends from Zimbabwe. They will be here on the 23rd.

We are planning to do our bullet penetration test while Roy and Alan are here.

Right now I am in the workshop making some 375 caliber solids. 9.3, 416, 458 and 585 bullets have already been made.

We are going to make a wooden box, and have 12x12x3/4 wood panels, spaced about 2 inches apart. This space we will fill with wet sand.

Walter said this will be as close to shooting a buffalo up the rear end as we can without using a buffalo!

Want some penetration "live" data on those .458s when I go over in June?? I might be in on a cull hunt and will rack up some kills.

Why no .510 inchers? That's a big gap between .458 and .585--not meaning of course to keep you chained to the lathe . . .

We made bullets for rifles that we have. Once we get a rifle in this caliber, we will make the bullets for it.

Ah, yes. One does need a rifle to test a bullet! I didn't realize that you had no .510 rifles.

I do have one in .500 A-Square that I am going to shoot for the first time this weekend. It would have been interesting (at least to me) to see how the .510 caliber bullets perform as compared with the others.

Buy a buy a donkey for furthering bullet science! Cheers!

I am especially interested in how a .375 Monometal Flat Nosed Solid .375/300gr and the famous Walterhog .375/300gr "soft" work in this medium at:

1) 2400 fps
2) 2700 fps

This will end a lot of BS. A buffalo rear end simulation is ironically perfect for ending BS.

I tested the .510 bullets with the tests that I did for my site. They stack up very well to say the least in the 500 A-Square.

I see that you used the A-Square monolithics in your tests of the 500A2.

Did you ever try the Woodleigh 600 grain solids? The Woodleigh solids seemed to do very well in your tests of the .470 Mbogo.

Next time we saw the bull, I did just that, as you can see from this photo.



The bull staggered and dropped. We got closer and put a finishing shot into him.

Roy said "that is NOT the right place to shoot a buffalo!"

It is not my shot of choice, but sometimes one does not have any alternative.

On all shoulder shots, or those that are slightly quartering, the bullets have always excited the animals.

The idae is if we do have to take a bad shot - as above, the bullet will do its job, rather than stop in teh stomach of the buffalo.
