Like most of you, I travel a lot on hunts, as well as for my job, plus I live out in the country. MASA is an alternative to MedJet and Global Rescue with more benefits.

I am now a representative for MASA, Medical Air Services Association. I am able to enroll you at the group discount we give associations.

MASA provides life-saving emergency assistance from home or while traveling anywhere in the world.

MASA pays all of your regular emergency ground ambulance costs, your helicopter transportation costs, and emergency air transportation cost from home, work, or anywhere in the world not covered by insurance along with ten other major benefits!

The annual premium for your whole family is much less that one local ambulance ride.

I can enroll any AR members in the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico, (coverage is world wide). This is an associating membership, not insurance. There are NO claim forms to deal with.

The ANNUAL cost at our association rates for an individual is just $290 and only $390 for your whole family!

If you were to enroll individually with MASA without our association rates, you would pay $540 for an individual and $720 for a family.

We all hunt, fish, and travel away from home. PLUS-This covers us at home too!!

PM with any questions or to handle your enrollment. I can enroll you over the phone.

NO Claim Forms, NO Deductibles, No Age Limits, No Medical Examination*, and NO Dollar Limits per Flight.
*all pre-existing conditions are covered after only 90 days.

12 Member Benefits:

MASA offers the best benefits for the greatest value in the medical evacuation industry. Since MASA was founded more than 30 years ago, the company has continued to add benefits, but has never increased the price to an existing member. Once the membership fee is paid, there are no additional costs for any provided service.

Membership Benefits:
• Emergency Air Transportation
• Helicopter Transportation - Unlimited
• Ground Ambulance Transportation - Unlimited
• Organ Retrieval
• Organ Recipient Transportation
• Recuperation/Repatriation

Medical Air Services Association

Gentlemen:

My husband and I are Snowbirds and spend our Winters in Florida. On March
26, 2011, my husband, Bill, fell and broke two ribs which punctured a lung.
I took him to the hospital and he was admitted. Being allergic to some medi-cations, he ran into big problems and ended up in lGU. After two weeks in
ICU and things were not improving, I requested MASA to fly him home where
we could be with our family and he could be treated at a bigger and more
progressive hospital.
MASA came to our aid and flew Bill and I home to Michigan and our Son drove
our car home for us. They had ambulance service to and from the airports
ready and waiting. The RN and RT on board the flight were qualified and very
caring to Bill. Everyone did their best to make me comfortable and they all
helped us through a very difficult time. I am very grateful to MASA, the Air
Team and the Ambulance personnel for making this stressfultransfer easier
for me.
I would recommend MASA Insurance to everyone who spends time in another
location far, from family. You never know what can happen.
Sincerely, ,

Joan Wiseman

Good afternoon Mary,

As a fourteen year member and two time recipient of your services it is time to express my gratification. Thank
you! Not only did you send a twin engine turbo prop with two pilots and a flight paramedic the transportation
included all costs hospital to hospital from San Jose Costa Rica to southwest Fl. This could have easily cost me
many thousands of dollars had my policy not been in effect and as member of MASA it cost me not one cent.
FANTASTC! service at a GREAT! price. I recommend this to all my friends and family.
Additional thanks to Dusty Cook for guiding my wife through the process from remote locations and facilitating
my transfer.

Okay Bob, you have my attention as my wife and I are in the market for such coverage.

Have a question concerning travel outside the basic coverage area. Please elaborate on what needs to be done if wife and I go to Europe, South America, or Africa. What is the degree of hoop jumping and documentation to be sure we will get flown back to our home? Any extra costs outside the basic coverage area?

Hey Matt,

For travel in Canada, the USA, Mexico, and the Caribbean you just pack your bags and go. Outside this area you just need to mail MASA a copy of your itinerary at least 10 days before your departure. This gives them time to make sure all necessary assets and personnel are in place and ready for immediate activation should you need them. To process a claim, you just mail invoices as you receive them and mail them to MASA with your membership number. They will send you a copy of the paid invoice. You never have any out of pocket costs. Usually you can just hand the folks on the scene your MASA card and everything goes on auto-pilot(no pun intended).

They have been doing this world wide for over 30 years now. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Good Hunting,

Bob

I am interested an I need to make my decision within the next week.

So my questions: Compared to Global Rescue, specifically how is MASA superior? Is it just the added coverage of medical costs, or is MASA's air evacuation superior?

Also, who makes the decision of where you are taken once evacuated?

And, assuming you are in the bush in Africa and are injured, does MASA extract you from the bush, or do you need to get to an airport?

Thanks in advance.

Jason

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Jason-Both MASA and GR will use qualified local resources for the initial ground ambulance or air transport from the bush to the nearest qualified hospital. MASA will cover 100% of that cost along with the other benefits listed. MASA will also pay 100% for ground ambulance costs. Both MASA and GR will also try to accommodate your wishes as to a recuperation/repatriation hospital, but MASA will also pay to fly you home on a commercial flight if you are released from the hospital. MASA will also transport you to the best facility equipped to handle your situation, not necessarily just the nearest facility. 0verall MASA has more benefits, especially from home, work, or deer camp. You can also call Dusty at MASA with additional questions: 800-423-3226.
MASA has been doing this for 37 years now.

MedJet should not even be included in this conversation lest someone think they are in some way equal in coverage or service.

Just my opinion. Cool

Jason-I asked Dusty from MASA to chime in for you.

Wendell-Thanks!

From MASA:

Bob
I am interested an I need to make my decision within the next week.

So my questions: Compared to Global Rescue, specifically how is MASA superior? Is it just the added coverage of medical costs, or is MASA's air evacuation superior?

MASA does not pay for medical costs. As far as superior service, we definitely believe our 40 years of experience places MASA in a superior position.

Also, who makes the decision of where you are taken once evacuated?

After an emergency evacuation and the member is stabile enough to be transferred from their current hospital, it is the member’s decision to be flown to a hospital of their choice nearer their residence on file with MASA.

And, assuming you are in the bush in Africa and are injured, does MASA extract you from the bush, or do you need to get to an airport?

Field Rescue is done by local 911 services for GR as it is done for all travel assist companies however, it is almost universal that the travel assist company is contacted after the initial transfer is done, especially from remote locations. However, according to GR’s service agreement they will not make payment unless they are contacted at the time of transfer. Below are the “Field Rescue” and “911” definitions and qualifiers by GR from their service agreement.
“Field Rescue” – The transport of the Traveling Member by ground, air, or sea to a hospital, clinic or other medical provider capable of providing care to a Traveling Member in need of in-patient hospitalization. (These transfers are done by local 911 services)

Global Rescue: IF A TRAVELING MEMBER EXPERIENCES AN EMERGENCY OF ANY NATURE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, A MEDICAL OR SECURITY EMERGENCY, THE TRAVELING MEMBER SHOULD CALL LOCAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL OR SECURITY SERVICES (I.E. 911). HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR GR SERVICES, THE TRAVELING MEMBER MUST CONTACT GR AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT REQUIRING HOSPITALIZATION OR AT THE TIME OF A QUALIFYING SECURITY EVENT.GR SHALL NOT BE OBLIGATED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TO REIMBURSE A MEMBER OR PAY ANY THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDER FOR ANY ASSOCIATED COSTS WHICH HAVE BEEN ARRANGED BY THE MEMBER OR ON BEHALF OF THE MEMBER BY ANY THIRD PARTY. (see Sec. 2.8).

Thanks in advance.

Jason

Here is another recent letter MASA received:
April 26,2011

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the services MASA offers!
on March 5,2011, my husband was involved in a motorcycle
accident north of Fort Worth, TX while riding with a friend on their way to
Daytona Beach, Fl. R.L. was airlifted from the accident scene to Harris Methodist
hospital in Fort Worth and spent the next 9 days in ICU and the surgical trauma
floors before being transferred to our local hospital in Farmington, NM about 700
miles away.
From the moment I received word of his accident and flew to his side, I knew I
would have the assistance in getting him home with MASA. Your staff was very
professional and helpful in guiding me thru the process and in working with the
hospital staff to transport my husband and myself back to our local medical
facility.
Again, I would like to thank all of the MASA staff and the flight medical team for
making the transition from hospitalto hospital as smooth as possible during a
traumatic time.
In closing, you have my permission to use my letter as a testimonialto your
services.
Sincerely,
Patricia Stockard

Call or PM me. If you have not checked to see what your insurance ACTUALLY covers for air ambulance, you should, especially away from home here and aboard. And..this covers all ground ambulance and more from home and work.

For $32.50/month for your whole family and $24.01/month for an individual, this is a no brainer.
