I am planning a hunt in 09 or 10. It will be my second trip to Africa (PG in Namibia in 04). A friend will be going with me on his first trip. We both have Buff as our #1 priority. He wants some of the general bag PG species, as would be expected from a first timer. I would also like a few select PG species. Give this info, and the prioritized list of game below, what countries/areas would you recommend?

#1 (Must Have) Buffalo
#2 (Highly desired) Kudu, Impala, Bushbuck, Klippy
#3 (Nice to have, would not break deal if not available) Nyala, Eland, Sable, Duiker, Zebra, Grysbok, Steinbock

To make the above clear, you might look at the list above and say, "you need to go to Zululand for the best Nyala.." But that would largely exclude my #1, so they need to be evaluated in order.

Thanks for your responses.

Sorry, I wanted to add...cost is a factor for us both. I fully understand you often get what you pay for, but above a certain level is just not feasible, no matter how much better it might be.

Zimbabwe would have all the game you seek, but not necessarily in one area.

Zim's your place. I've taken everything on your list there except Eland and Steinbok.

Zim definitely, Lemco would have most of the species you are looking for, one stop but its a big place.

I have 4 top shelf Outfitters/PH's in Zim that could accomodate your hunt. Your timing would be good as much of this year, if not all is sold out already. PM or give me a call.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Roger Whittall Safaris Zimbabwe. I would reccommend them to anybody. In my opinion the number 1 outfitter in Zim.

I worked for Roger Whittall all through 2005 and saw many happy clients leaving after their safaris.

I think Mozambique would also have most of these species.

One other option might be a 2 country hunt: RSA and Moz/Zim?
