Hi,

Just ordered my next PG hunt in The Eastern cape with KMG safaris for november this yearSmiler Very Happy! I would love to try and hopefully buy some Courtney Boots while I am there. I have a week of hunting and a week in Port Elizabeth visiting friends. Anyone know a shop I can go to? I will be hunting with others shoes since I will never hunt with new shoes.
Thanks for all your answersSmiler

Hi, there is allways safari and outdoor in pretoria? If you fly by Jburg.
Big advantage to preorder the shoes, cause they are not always fully stocked..

Not a problem to use those boots freshly from the box!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am just staying a short while (couple of hours)on the airport in joburg before going to PE. I dont have time to go to any shops there. I have thought about ordering, but afraid that the sizes are different in some way, therefore will not fit me perfectly. Would love to try some of the different types aswell. Thinking about Courtney SafariSmiler

Takker så mye!!

I defiantly agree with trying them on before buying. I had to buy a pr a 1/2 size smaller than normal for them to fit me.
I have a pr of Courtney Selous & a pr of Courtney Hunters, the Selous are superior & did not require a break-in period for me.
Good luck on your safari.

We didn't have time on my trip to get Courtneys, but I emailed with the Powder Keg in Pretoria and arranged for a pair to be shipped to my taxidermist and included in the crate. They were a tad big, but insoles helped. Much better than too small.

Would love to buy them in Zimbabwe, straight from the factory. Maybe I could order them from zim to RSA? Hows the cost in zim compared to rsa?

Second best i will order from powder keg and hope for the sizes to be correct, if not sell them to someone in Norway if they dont fit, could probably brake even anywaysSmiler
Thanks for the repliesSmiler

That's a smart route to take. I think I paid less than half the cost of the same in the US. Great boots, by the way.

similar for me. i bought a pair of elephant hide in Zim at the end of a hunt and wore them home. they fit perfectly from day 1 and for 100's of miles of tracking since. i wear a size 9 and these are labelled size 9. 10 years ago they cost me $150.

SJ:

That would equate to 10/11 UK size and I would imagine a size 44/10 would fit "hand in glove" as the Courtenay design does not cramp the toe area.

Great boots!

Hi Svinejakt,

www.afrikanskakompaniet.se are retailer for Courteney boots in Scandinavia.
We always have Safari, Patrol and Selous in all sizes in stock. If not we make a special order with Courteney in Zimbabwe and have the boots in Sweden within 4 weeks time.

Had two Norwegian customers that bought two pairs of Selous here yesterday.

Cheers
Husky

Does anyone here know if any vender at the DSC show will be selling Courtney shoes? I looked last year but was only at the show for one day, and one can't cover even half that show in one day, and didn'tfind anyone who were selling them, or even the vender who was selling the look alikes that were for sale in the past!

I want another pair, but will not buy without trying them on. There is a problem with fit if they are not tried on. I have given away two pairs that were shipped to me that simply were nowhere near the US size conversion to the one stamped on them.

Thanks DSC, I knew Westley Richards sells them but I wasn't aware they had started exhibiting at the DSC show again. They didn't for some years!

Mac, there are a few others like Ken's out of Georgia. They all seem to go for the same, standard retail price. I assume this was prearranged. Depending on your DSC schedule, it might be prudent to call one of those retailers in advance and have them put a few pair back in your approximate size range until you can get them.

Oh, WR has been there recently. I typically speed by their booth because it's too tempting.

I emailed Kevin at WR in Montana to see if he'll be at the DSC. If so, I'll post up asking for sizes for folks interested, so he can have them at the show.

I got this back from Kevin at Westley Richards. FYI:

Mr. Bieber,

I do believe we will be exhibiting but more likely than not will not have much in the way of stock in boots there. I suspect we’ll have some of the popular styles in popular sizes there to show off and try on, but we’ll most likely be taking orders and shipping from Bozeman. Not sure if that helps. Though if anyone is also attending the SCI show in Vegas, we will have stock there that they will be able to purchase and take from the booth. Alternatively they could always order from me in advance now as I have good stock on hand, and that way they would be able to wear their new Courteney Boots to the Dallas show! The main thing is that the boots are UK sized and run about a ½ size large in mens. So if a guy is a US size 10.5 he’ll need a size 10. Let me know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Kevin

I ordered directly from the factory, and had them delivered to my PH. The boots were in the camp when I arrived! Loved them from the first wearing....

Take some good inserts. They have absolutely no arch support. Good luck.

Mac,

Sporting Creations will have them at the show, at least they have for the past several years. That's where I bought mine and yes, the sizes are not correct. I wear an 11 normally but 9.5 Courtneys are what fit me.

About the lack of arch support, it's by design. Supposed to give you better "feel" for stalking so that you can "feel" every stick or rock. Think of it as wearing socks to the leopard blind, but with thorn protection and traction from the sole. I do have the Courtney inserts in mine as well, but their inserts have no arch support either, rather they help tighten up the shoes in the spots that were still a bit loose on my foot. Absolute great boots however!

I bought my first pair of Courtneys in 1997 at Giga's in Bulawayo and bought a pair everyyear I went to Zimbabwe except one. So at this count I have 7 pairs in the closet. The first ones were Elephant and the store person said to wear them on the plane home and they wouldn't be checked, which was true but a couple of years later the Customs guy just remarked that 'your Courtneys look pretty nice' making me realize I was fooling only myself. I have a couple of pairs of Elephant, some Vellies and then I have some of their regular shoes which I really find comfortable. Never bought any of the top 'Selous' line as they really Didn't fit very well. I met the head of Courtneys at Las Vegas once at the WR booth. He invited me to the factory next time I was in Bulawayo. Nextime I was there he wasn't but still got a good tour. At the times I was in Bulawayo they didn't have factory sales, you had to buy in Bulawayo and Giga's was the store with the largest selection as at the times I was there they had every style they made. I bought My PH and his family Rafters which is what he hunted in. He swore by them. The PH I first hunted with there had his original Courtneys on and they had been back to the factory 3 times for rebuild. Still looked pretty good. As you can gather I find them pretty desirable but then I hunt in a pair of custom Russels which don't have a very good reputation on here.

I need to give Jim a plug here.
I have tendonitis in my right foot & as long as I wear my Courtney Selous, my foot doesn't hurt, therefore, I wear them daily.
A month or so ago I tore the sole loose from my right boot & I wasn't sure they were going to be able to fix it since this was the 2nd time I had accomplished this.
I needed another pair & quick.
Left a message on African Sporting Creations answering machine. The next day Jim called me while traveling & when I told him of my situation, he expedited a pair to me posthaste.
That's very good service.
