I would like to express my sincerest appreciation to several members of this forum for the fantastic hunt I had recently ( https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6321043/m/279103743 ). Sometimes we get wound around the axle about various subjects, but I just wanted everyone to know, the gems of information do get through to rookies going to Africa like myself.

I hate to name names, because I always inadvertantly leave someone off the list that deserves to be mentioned. And, truth be told, I’ve learned something from nearly everyone here. Of course, I would like to start with Saeed and Don for this website. Without this forum and its passion for African topics, I would likely have either been a bumbling idiot or, in the very least, the safari would not have turned out anywhere near as wonderful as it did. Thank for the DVD lists also, they really helped to fan the flames of desire to get there and hunt. The picture of Saeed’s Waterbuck on the photos page helped make it my choice as the first alternative when the bushbuck fell through.

Terry Carr was such a tremendous help in every way imaginable. I know he tired of my first timer questions, but he was a wealth of information, even to the point of giving me call and explaining a few things while putting my mind at ease. If everyone will read and practice the tips and packing list he has on the Hunting Reports page, you will be all but guaranteed of having a great trip. He is a true friend to anyone who will take the time to listen and learn.

Kathi Klimes, bless her heart. I’m sure I’ve been a client that Kathi wishes she never heard of. I called her in early February trying to get my travel plans arranged. She went to bat for me and made the whole travel experience a smooth and comfortable ride. As a return client of HHK’s, she also answered and coached me through some of the silly questions I had. She probably thought there was well of dumb questions and I was pulling them up by the bucket. Having hunted at Lemco before, she really had me fired up over the past few months. She is a real gem and I am so glad I found her contact info here at AR.

Mark Young, Anne Horseman and Jim Dodd, all booking agents that provided a tremendous amount of information to me, even though in the end I didn’t book with outfits they represent. I feel terrible about taking their time, they expended time and money helping me make my decision and understand the entire process. I know I owe them, and I hope our paths cross at some point so I can do something nice for them, whether it is to book a hunt in the future, buy us dinner or a round of drinks, I would like to do something. All three well beyond what they had to do and that fact is not lost on me.

I guess next is a group of people whom I have come to trust and have sought their advice individually and here on AR. A fine group of people that I have learned so much from and am sure I will continue to do. Ray Atkinson, Judge G, Forrest B, Rusty (I still owe you a shirt and will get that to you soon, I promise), Jeffeoso, Will, Keith Atcheson, Allen Day, Spring, Jorge, NitroX, Rich Elliott, LV Eric (thank you for the video!), and 1115. Others include Bill C, Dogcat, Ganyana, Kyler Hamann, retreever, Chic Worthing, Duane Wiebe, lloud-n-boomer, Mickey, Harry, Wendell Reich, NE 450 No 2, Terry Blauwkamp, bwanamrm, bwanahile and Walter!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Without you and your experience, I would not have had such a fantastic hunt. Please know I learned a tremendous amount from all of you and will try to continue to listen and learn. Never has been such a resource of wisdom and experience been available those seeking to learn and understand as this website gives, and you all are the reason. I'm sure I left someone out (probably a lot of members here) and I apologize. Please know you are included and I appreciate your efforts and input.

As I said earlier, sometimes we do get sidetracked with petty subjects and topics better suited for a trash can or a toilet, but don’t think there isn’t anyone listening and willing to learn. I’m here and still have a lot of hunting that I have not experienced in Africa yet, but I will and will be listening.

Thank you all

Dave

Thanks Dave and there is no way you could hang around AR and not learn something dang near every day no matter how accomplished a hunter / shooter you are. Somebody always has a trick that is just a tad better than the one you knew.
I have been doing all this for many years and the more I learn...the less I find I knew.
Then you also find there is no better place to get a good case of the red ass than AR...there are a few merry pranksters on here for sure and some of the better ones are coming to Dallas in Jan.! The city will never be the same. Razzer

Dave,
Thank you! That is just exactly what this site is all about, sharing and having a great hunt as a result!

DPhillips:

You're quite welcome!

Now come to Dallas and spend some time with many of the folks you list and plan your next safari.

Walter fits in because the practical jokes he suffers, and his antics, always bring a smile to my face. You may have to put up with the frustration and spend time scheming how to get him back, but we all get to reap the hilarious rewards.

Thanks again Saeed.
