I'm pretty excited about a new relationship we have with Clive Eaton in Botswana. Clive has 650,000 acres for hunting with 250,000 acres under game fence. The plains game and leopard hunting is fantastic with the leopard being hunted with Bushman trackers.

Clive offers all the Kalahari species plus a few others like blesbok, waterbuck and black wildebeest. You can hunt in the huge enclosure or in the 400,000 acre surrounding property.

Camps are traditional tented affairs with large custom tents and en suite bath. Equipment is first class with with new Land Cruisers.

Pick up is in Maun with a 2.5 hour drive to your camp.

7 day 2x1 package to include 1 gemsbok, 1 kudu, 1 eland and 1 blue wildebeest per hunter $4900 each. Other animals avaiable on a trophy fee basis.

Extras:

Gun permit $150 per gun
Pick up in Maun $200
Bots VAT on hunt 10%
Tips and hotels in Maun if necessary.

If want to hunt the Kalahari thereis no better. Contact me anytime.

African Hunter,

10 days 1x1 $18,900 plus $5000 trophy fee. This is the hunt where the leopard often charges the vehicle.

Clive has a good operation there. I had a hunt scheduled for myself, with him, in '04 and had to cancel at the last minute.

It looks like we are going to try to do it this year though.

Wolfgar,

This is the hunt where the Bushman follow the track on foot and you follow on the Cruiser. When the leopard finally has enough he often charges the truck. It's not just a leoaprd hunt but a very specialized adaventure. If you just want a leoaprd this would not be my recommendation but if the blind thing is not for you and you are looking for some real excitment this may be for you.

Mark,

What is the success rate on this type of Leopard hunt? I'm not in a position to take up this offer to be clear, my question is just academic, although I would love to do so one day!!

Also as you say the leopard often charges the truck is the hunter always in the truck to the last minute or is there scope to join the tracking party on foot? If so I'm assuming this can be quite a dangerous way to hunt lepoopard.

Also (finally) is this not a danger for the trackers?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want to hunt leopard at some point soon but blind baiting isn't realy my thing so this process really intreages me.

Thanks,
FB

Hey Mark,
Thanks for the reply. To each his own, I guess, but that hunt is not for me....I don't see the attraction in driving around and finally shooting such a magnificent animal from the safety of a high seat in the vehicle.

I killed my cat this year in Zimbabwe after 5 nights in the blind. I enjoyed every minute there, listening to the sounds, and anticipating the shot. When the cat did appeared, it was the most magical moment of my life!

I guess if a person just wants to shoot a Leopard, then the Bushman hunt is best, but I think they would be cheating themselves out of the most un-believable moment of their life!

Just my 2 cents!!

I was there in 2004, took a kudu, zebra and ostrich. I had a wonderful time, lots of very nice kudu. Blue wildebeest, gembuck, eland also. You will work for your trophies but they are there, no canned hunting here. Clive and Linda are good people. Keep an eye out for the Rhino.

Mark, is Clive using Edo's camp as well as his?

Kiri,

I'll try to answer your questions.

First everybody should have a shot opportunity.
Second depending on the circumstances you may or may not be on the truck at the last minutes of the stalk. Adam shot his leopard from the ground while it was engaged with the dogs. Garry Kelly's last leoapard with Clive tried to climb the truck as soon as it saw it. The trackers who know when to get out of the way can get hurt on occasion.

The dog hunt in Namibia for $12,500 might be to your liking if you are not interested in hunitng from a blind.

I just got an e-mail from Linda Eaton. I was way off on the amount of land that is huntable. Linda says they actually have over a million acres of land in addition to the 250,000 acres under fence. Also if you book a hunt you or your group will have camp exclusivity while on your safari. If you want to hunt unfenced land for Kalahari species this may be just the ticket.
