Update #1 from the Selous
Hi all,

Matt here. I just talked to my dad.

He got a buffalo and a zebra already, mature but nothing huge to use for bait. They have 4 baits up in different sections of the concession, and will start checking them tomorrow.

He said they also found a hippo in a waterhole that they were going to go after tomorrow for some more bait.

His ammo finally arrived in camp today, so he can start using all the handloaded ammo that he has been practicing with.

He said he saw a whole herd of zebra running together and between the chaos of the animals and their stripes, he realized how their markings can throw off lions or other predators. He couldn't pick out a single individual animal out of the group while they were running.

He also said that the concession is a lot drier than their last trip, so it is a lot easier to see the buffalo and pick out shooters. Hopefully this will also work out for the lion and the sable.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
