Put up or shut up. Seems the legitamate guide/outfitter made you an offer to prove yourself. You could likely get Marlin to sponser you.

All, The first story on the new forum will be on my Namibia hunt it may. I am hoping to get this forum online before that time but it may just be a barebones setup at firt. I will work on the bells and whistles the first opportunity I get. However the opening aritcles on what's a real hunt should be good ones See ya there. ( We all know I will )

Just curious... did you scope your 1895 or are using open sights? What scope (if any) did you go with? Mounts? I ask because I have a 1895 myself. steve

Leopold Vari X ll with Warne QD scope mounts. I also replaced the Buckhorn Rear sites with the williams adjustable folding site. C

You apparentlt put quite a bit more money into your base and rings that I did. I used the simple Weaver base, Burris rings and a 1-4x Leupold. Thought of using a QD base of some manner, but for just blastin' grounghogs and deer I didn't see the need for the extra cost. How's the recoil feel with the heavier loads in your Marlin? steve
