There was a string on here about 2 tears ago (July 03) about Alain being arrested and charged with the killing of a couple of nomads and his subsuquent release. Yesterday I received DVD's by Peter Flack and one of the was about his hunt in Chad. On the DVD are some of the scenes from Alain's confrontation with the nomads that resulted in the charges against him. Peter was one of the hunters with him. The DVD is real good although no very long 25 min. He hunts the Barbary Sheep, Red Front Gazelle, Orbi (which he says if a different sub species that the one in RSA), and Nigerian Bohr Reedbuck along with some other species.

Anders,

I was begenning to think I was the only Peter Flack fan. I enjoyed both of his book probably more than any other Africian books I have read.

There are currently 4 DVDs available with 3 more to be out soon.

Current:

Chad
Tanzania
Ethopia
Namabia

Comming soon:

RSA
CAR
Zambia

The current ones can be gotten from Rowland Ward. Two of them are $20 apiece and 2 are $30 apiece, if you purchace all 4 it is $90.

I have watched the Chad and the Tanaznia DVD till now.

People have ask me If I could have dinner with anyone who would it be and my reply is always Craig Boddington and Peter Flack. Cool

I had a few beers with Alain Lefol in Ndjamena a couple of years ago and watched a cassette of a hunt in which he guided Boddington and another American hunter for Kudu and sheep. I don't think that cassette is available nor do I think it was filmed to be commercially exploited. Lefol's expeditions to Eastern and North eastern Chad really are expeditions. They require a lot more planning and logistics than the average Southern or East African safari and are pretty much targetted to the hunter who wants that subspecies of Kudu or one of those sheep. Lefol knows his stuff of course but then a lot of the French PH's in Central Africa are very good, or so I am told.

Die Ou Jagter,
Thanks! I`ll definetly set as side some money for those dvd`s..
As long as I`ve been interested in Africa, I`ve been a Big fan of C. Boddington and P. Flack. They`re the modern times explorers in Africa, and the books they`ve made is just the best!
I would like a chair at that dinner table as well.. Smiler

I have now viewed all four and Wink is correct the hunt in Chad was a true exploration. The hunt for Mt Nyala was in country I had never seen (thru videos) before. There is not many actual shots on film but good pictures after the fact and good explanitation of the species i e the various Bushbucks and Reedbucks. He pulls no punches re he is a bit of a collector of trophies.

Rich every time I see a video of Ethiopia I just drool. I could never think of going to Tansania unless I had visited the Great Rift Valley and the Bale Mt.
