There is good news this week as Section 436 of the House Interior Appropriations Bill was removed from the bill. The provision would have denied funds to be used for issuing permits for the import of a sport-hunted trophy of an elephant or lion taken in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, or Zambia. The full report from DSC can be seen here: https://mailchi.mp/biggame.org...-pulled?e=5837ff5e14 Those against international hunt rarely understand the ripple effects their actions cause as many have never visited the countries and peoples they wish to impose their wills on. A client of ours harvested a problem elephant in Namibia that had destroyed many acres of farmland, resulting in several villages suffering from lack of funds and food. The hunting of the elephant not only removed the immediate problem, but all proceeds of the hunt, and most importantly, the meat went back to the community that had been impacted. If anti-hunter had there way, there would be no compensation for these farmers and their children would have gone without food. Safari Specialty Importers is proud to support the individual efforts that ordinary hunters make in the communities that support hunting. We are also proud to support organizations like DSC who fight the good fight stateside! | ||
