Does anyone have knowledge of Bunda Safaris in Tanzania or the Kiliwa Area for buff?

JD Andrews hunts in the Kilwa area. Not sure if this is the company he works for or not.

You might want to pm TANZ-PH. If this is not his area he can probably at least tell you about them.

There was a Tanzania Bundu Safaris (ex late George Alexiou) but never heard of a Bunda Safaris.

Fujo,

How are the buffalo that close to the coast? I'd still like to go there, having never been.

It is referred to as the Kilwa "area" but its actually closer/bordering the Selous so a good proportion of the buffalo are part of the Selous ecosystem.
You cannot compare Selous buffalo to those of the North & West TZ though with a bit of luck an occasional decent one can be had.

You need to do your homework with regards to fixing dates to coincide with the best month/s when the buffalo move into the concession in their numbers (depends who starts burning first and if the water sources are not depleted).

The outfitter will be in the best position to tell you all this but he's got to be honest about it and not just aim at securing your bucks only to later blame it on Murphy.

Also don't expect a grand variety of game compared to the areas you have already hunted in TZ.

Sadaani NP is 2 hours north of Dar and right on the ocean. It used to be a hunting block, and even though most game populations are low, it is still a great place to visit. Apparently years back the elephants would come right down to the beach. I went a few months back and camped on the beach and did a few game drives. The two biggest warthog I have ever seen live right in the local village!

Fujotupu:

Thanks for confirming what I suspected. Still want to visit. I'll hunt elsewhere.

Just noticed this post. No, I do hunt in this block. Bunda is leased by local Tanzanian guys. Its called Kilwa North. Used to be controlled by Jerome Latrive several years ago. I hunt the two blocks to the south...always plenty of big buffalo bulls in those two blocks. All clients that want to shoot THREE buffalo dugga bulls get their chance; so I'm 100% on buffalo. It is not right near the coast, but typical Miombo woodland...pretty much same like Selous GR.
